Pod racing is locked behind "arcade mode" :(
Essentially quick play. Only 6 racers on track at any given time, so you wont be able to pick pod racer as an option in the story/leagues roguelike mode. The racing leagues mode looks so fun with so much re-playability why wouldn't they just add the pod racers as an option or at the very least a reward for completing the league on hard or something. Such a waste of content it just being put in quick play only to be experienced a couple times then forgotten about. They've literally been teasing us with Sebulba from the very first reveal trailer showing pod racers were gonna be in the game knowing full well so many people would love to play in them. Locking it behind an Arcade quick play mode with only 6 other racers on track instead of the league modes 12 racers is just miserably boring

Where is this confirmed? Perhaps this is only a limitation of the preview build?

I hope its a limitation of the preview build but ive seen 2 channels now talking about the game and going over all the footage thats been released. In both videos it shows all available vehicle classes in the galactic leagues mode (basically the only mode with content and re-playability) and it shows the Land speeder, skim speeder and speeder bike.

Then one of the videos talks about game modes you have Campaign, which is the league mode which plays essentially like a roguelike with upgrading, progression customisation etc. Then there scenarios which are smaller scale challenges, arcade mode which is basically just quick races and the only way you'll be able to access pod racing but will only have 6 racers on track instead of 12. There wont be any progression, customisation or any reason to play outside of just trying it once and winning. Then there's multiplayer which nothing was really said about that, so either something is juicy there or its so barebones it may as well not be in the game.
Hear my words. I'm sure pod racers are only in the game to scam old SW Racer fans to buy this game.

Well yeah after hearing that news its really feeling like it, notice how in all the promotional material podracing only takes place on 1 track too. I think its only gonna be playable on that singular track on tatooine. I watched another video and apparently pod racing is in the story but only for 1 race or something like that and the explanation they give for not having it in the game properly is something like. The owner of the racing league says he would love to do pod racing but its so fast only about 4 people even know how to fly them so finding racers is impossible.

Such a pathetic excuse you're telling me out of the entire galaxy he cant find 12 people capable for racing in a pod racer.

It seems like the worst fears are true the pod racing is only there to nostalgia bait people into buying the game to force more Rey Wars nonsense down our throats. Lets be honest the land speeder, Skim Speeder and this games speeder bike don't look very Star Warsy at all they look very Rey Warsy 100%. The landspeeder looks near identical to the one you use in Battlefront 2 on the Star killer base map which is a Rey Wars map, the speederbike just looks like it was ripped right out of destiny. And just saying the word Skim Speeder gives me flash backs to The Last Jedi with that god-water, slop, trash scene were Ping Ying Ding or whatever her name is crashes into Fin and gives that god awful speech.

Such wasted potential. The vibe i was getting from this game was Burnout/StarWarsRacer/Motor Storm i loved the idea of multiclass racing like in Motor Storm between the different speeders, i understand the fact that Pod Racers are faster in lore but they had 2 options bend the lore a little and just make them similar speeds to the speeders for balancing or raise the speeders speeds to keep it high octane. The other option would have been to do a league specifically for pod racing, reuse the tracks hell maybe do all the same tracks but for pod racing theyre reversed so they can save on time but tracks feel different. As it stands pod racing may as well not be in the game its shaping up to be only 6 racers, on 1 track with no reason to play outside of nostalgia and that will be entertaining for all of 20 minutes if that.
I don't even mind the roguelite aspect, but having to run around in those social hubs just to talk to badly written and cringe looking NPCs really kills the mood for me. I highly dislike the NPC design in this game, they all give me serious Jar Jar Binks vibes.

And I really don't get why they didn't just give us a few pod racing leagues separated from the other three vehicle classes. Are the tracks too small to fly pod racers on them ? Can't be, the other vehicles are part wise almost as large.

The main reason is probably them not wanting to render separate cutscenes for the pod racers during story mode. Which wouldn't even be necessary because nobody needs all of that social hub nonsense anyway. It just dilutes the overall experience.
Yeah, I've just lost all interest.

I spent dozens upon dozens of hours on the N64 pod racer game. How can they swing and miss so hard?

Don't care anymore. I was fine with all the other racing styles IF podracing was apart of it. But it's not, not in any meaningful fashion, so I no longer care.

All the hub/dialog/cutscense are full skippable. I think it having a story is a nice idea and only adds to the experience. if you dont want just press the A/X button and its gone. Someone said in there 2 hours hands on with the campaign nearly all of it was racing the game wastes no time between races/events.

As for the pod racing though its so sad im really disappointed, its got me wondering is this lazy developers or Disney holding the IP so tight around the through they dont want to release a game with prequal content and sequel content and find out people prefer pod racing in the prequal stuff more than the Rey Wars slop.

yeah they used Sebulba as bait to trick everyone into thinking Pod Racing would have a bigger part in the game its just a way to get the numbers up so Disney can shove more Rey Wars down our throats. im like you I wouldn't have cared if there was a league like the campaign but for pod racing id have played both but the fact pod racing is just 6 racers on track and only im some boring quick play mode on what seems to be 1 track, nah absolutely awful.

Doesnt this game have vehicle tuning ?
Everytime you want to change something on your vehicle or install an upgrade you porbably have to interact with one of those cringy characters in one of the hub worlds.

I really wonder if Disney send Fuse games some of their own character artists to work on those characters. Most of those NPCs ooze Disney cringe. They really feel like taken straight out of the new Star Wars trilogy 🤢....which isnt ment as a compliment ;)

You upgrade between races, i think you only go to the paddock at the start of the arrival on a new planet and when leaving for the next one. Theres a lot of events inbetween those moments. The upgrades seemed to pop up (at least in the preview footage) between the races
Just wanted to jump in on this thread to clear up a few things!

- Podracing is NOT locked behind arcade events only. For the hands-on previews that we've done so far, we had players take part in arcade events to showcase the podracing, but the podracing will also feature in the singleplayer campaign and will have its own multiplayer mode as well with up to 8 players.
- Podracing is NOT limited to just Tatooine. We showcased footage of podracing on a few other planets in our official story trailer, so we'd recommend checking that out if you want to see some of that footage!

What do you mean by "feature in the single player campaign" ?
Can you play the entire single player campaign with pod racers , or only a few individual races ? And how many procent of the courses are playable on podracers ? 20 %, 30 % , more , less ?

Very vague language.

could pod racing not get its on "Runs based" league its such a shame how much of a back seat it seems to be getting. I understand they cant be customised like the Rey Wars vehicles but surely a league with varying difficulties could be done? Just really feels like the Pod Racing is more of a marketing tool to lure us into buying the game. I mean how much replay value will there be from "arcade mode" nowhere has anyone elaborated on what that even means its sounds more like a quick play mode with no progression, no reason to play outside of the sake of it. Same goes for multiplayer what does that have going for it, is there ranks/level, driver ratings, leaderboards or is it just "arcade mode" with humans instead of Ai.
Guess we will have to figure that out in 3 months
i was excited for this but judging by the devs response it sounds like pod racing isnt a main point if thats the cause ill be dipping, but wont know till release i guess
