What is this "anti-cheat" thing?

I don't like running strange programs I know nothing about on my PC. I tried to join a lobby and kept getting kicked because I wouldn't install it. What gives!?

Ofcourse you have to be to told what it is. You did write it youself tho, but it's an anti-cheat that prevent you from getting killed across the map by some sort of hacker. So they implemented this "anti-cheat" for you to enjoy the game and that is what it is: ANTI-CHEAT.

In case your question is legit (which I don't believe for a second), BattlEye is used by many AAA games to provide anti-cheat protection, including the massively popular Arma 3. It is not spyware, and does not open ads on your PC.

Its just an Anticheat which isnt included in the game thats all, every good game got an anticheat , and every anticheat is different so yeo its "legit"

Example "VAC" Banned because of cheating ---> conclusion : there is an anticheat running in the background

can confirm, battleye is legit, arma 2 and 3 use it to handle their anti-cheating and bans.

most games don't even ask before installing anticheat for you, but this one does which is nice!

enless you plan to cheat in the game, battleye is there to protect your experiance.
