I got it in my account because I tried it when it was free.
I reviewed a fried account that never played the game, and he does not have it in his library, and can not play it now unless he purchase the new promotion.
So, if you are sure you never played the game, or installed it, or selected to play but never installed it, and also got the game in your library, well, you are a lucky person. At least give the game a try before removing it from your library.
EDIT: Took out more than half of the paragraph that didn't need to be there.
The SoTF game mode comes with the base game, which is an absolutely massive game in terms of the available content, still in active development... I know that 40 odd GB seems like a lot, especially to those of us that remember games that came on a single DVD (Or even 1-2 CD ROMs), but as gaming continues becoming more and more complex, you are going to see A LOT of new titles coming out with massive space requirements.
You'll also hear a lot about lack of optimization... yes sure, the game isn't the best, most optimized game out there, but if I bought my PC 6 years ago, relatively cheap, and I can still run it well enough to compete with other players, It can't be that terrible
SoTF is no longer f2p, and comes as a part of Survival Evolved, and has been retrospectively added to the libraries of those who don't already have it, who have at some point or another had survival evolved in their library. Whatever mistake has been made is sure to be tidied up in due time

Click the ‘Remove’ tag item
But again, hiding it from your list is easy peasy. I have a bunch of games I've hidden that I've forgotten about for years.
