Realized that I wasted my money after discovering Umineko Project.

Steam version's "okay" when paired up with 07th mod, but Umineko Project just feels like the complete and definitive way to experience Umineko. Most important of all, it comes with both question and answer arcs.

Battler - the Witch Hunt/Mangagamer translation has been ported to Umineko Project, so that's no longer an advantage over 07th-mod. See https://umineko-project.org/en/2021/01/the-end/

I agree that the Umineko Project's quality is spectacular, but I wouldn't think of buying the original as wasting your money. It's only right to give something back to the original authors. The Umineko Project technically uses stolen assets, even if it's to do something good. I believe they expect you to own copies of the game on PS3 and PC before gaining access, but that does seem a bit of a barrier for entry in my eyes.

Last I heard they're working on getting in the official translation added in as an option (one of the only criticisms of the project is that they did their own translation which may have led to a point of mixed opinions compared to the official release).

UmiPro is really not that good. It is certainly not better than 07th Mod. It has, what, animated effects? A normal TIPs menu? Those are fine and all, but I would much rather have the better TL and UI of 07th mod, because both are far better

Devs of Umineko Project said themselves that they are against pirating this game, they even wanted to create special login only for those who bought the game. It just so happens that their engine differs from steam version game engine.
So dont even think you wasted money for nothing.
