Why can't I coup?

I'm brand new so probably missing something obvious. I wish cards stayed up longer, and I could go back and see what happened instaed of just he game log.

I'm playing as the US Side and just played a card in a coup attempt. For some reason I can only seem to initiate it in Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Egypt, Sudan, and Ethopia.

In this screenshot, why can't I choose any of the countries in Asia or Europe? (I was going to attempt Pakistan)

When DEFCON is lowered, you cannot coup or realign in certain regions.
DEFCON 4 = no Europe
DEFCON 3 = no Asia
DEFCON 2 = no Middle East

You can see this on the DEFCON Track popup.

There's also a small mushroom cloud icon under the region widget that indicates the region is restricted.

Thanks! I was just about come post here that I figured that out. I had read the rules for Coups, but did not properly read the rules for Defcon!
