Discarding cards
I'm at the end of my first turn, and I have the option of discarding a card (I assume because I've got two left in my hand?) But I can't figure out how to actually discard the card. When I click on the card, no option comes up, and if I click "done" I don't have the option either. Is this a bug, or is there a button Im missing? THanks for your help!

You can never voluntarily discard card, in fact, card and deck management is a big part of this game. Sometimes you're force to hold a certain card (or suffer a lost aka defcon trap), sometimes you would want to strategically hold a certain card. Only a few specific card event allows the player to discard the card they are holding, JFK for example.

Honestly I'd suggest reading the rules from GMT's website. They're not all that long (I'd guess start to finsih in about 10 minutes) and it will clear up this kind of basic rules question.

While I'm sure the game tutorial is good to cover basic stuff, its no replacement for just reading the real rules from the boardgame.

I agree.

The rulebooks is widely available - for free. It even has gameplay examples.

I'd suggest also to head to twilightstrategy.com, their PDF strategy booklet is free.

Thanks everyone. This is... sort of helpful. What I was looking for was a comment on where the button to discard was, not the rules surrounding discarding. Later in my playthrough, I found the discard button. The fact that it wasn't showing up the first time around meant that there was a bug, either in that the game was erroneously telling me that I could discard, or that the button to discard wasn't appearing. I think it was the former. I probably should have been more clear with what I was asking for help about.

It's also possible that the card gives a choice for you to discard, but you have no legal discard targets (Blockade, for example, and the rest of your hand are all OPS < 3). Without the specifics it's hard to comment on whether it's a programming or interface problem.

I didn't mean to patronise you with my reponse about reading the rules - my point is that you cannot be sure if it is a bug if you don't know the whether the rules require or allow a discard.

It's difficult for anyone to help you with no other information about the game state. As I read your post I thought you were just assuming it was like other card games with an end of turn discard to complete.

It actually sounds like some card play may have led to an optional discard but without more information it's very difficult to say what happened in your game.
