Can you play local multiplayer?

I've never played this, can you play with two people on the same screen? Or is there a hidden hand?

I haven't tried it yet, but the new update just added a hotseat mode for two players on the same screen.

Yup, go to Play Offline, and click on the eagle or bear to switch it from AI to human controlled. You can also change the name of each player.
