Kremlin Flu is just such an overpowered card that can flip any battleground by forcing your opponent to skip a turn and giving you a two ops play and even more, it's not starred so can potentially be played 3-5 times (star wars and SALT pickups). It's by far the biggest game changer in the expansion.
The turn zero events are quite interesting, they do favour the US but the USSR does have some nice possibilities.
The crisis balance is off, so, for instance, having the game pretty much decided on a 1 or 6 roll for Yalta and Potsdam is not very interesting. A repeat card like Kremlin flu added to the deck is a massive game-changer, and not in a way that I like. I'm not really qualified to judge, because I don't think I will ever pay for the expansion, but from what I've read I think the game is better without the expansion than with it.
Having said that, the new cards are unbalanced - Kremlin Flu is very strong and the USSR does not get any card that would remotely be as influential (pardon the pun).
