Missle Envy & Cuban Missle crisis & Lone Gunman
A player just beat me cause i played missle envy as US while at defcon 2. He then played cuban missle crisis which the icon went onto my side with me thinking the text is what it says..."your opponent"

So, I had to play "we will bury" or lone gunman (thats all I had left and we were defcon two from start) cause i figure he will be the one starting the coup so he will lose from cuban missle but he won anyway.....

I read this online in the game faq that cuban missle takes "precedence" over any defcon lowering card....

Is the game bugged or am I not understanding? whats the point of cuban missle then?

Also...when missle envy happens and the event is.... say .....cuban. who should get it? The card has text saying opponent but missle envy doesnt say who the event will happen too. I ASSUME the person who played it.? Some Insight...please!

I'll try and write what might have happened and how that fits in with the rules.

As US, you played Missile Envy for the event, and triggered Cuban Missile Crisis. The USSR will now lose the game if they coup this turn, unless they remove 2 influence from Cuba. DEFCON is 2.

USSR plays Missile Envy for OPs.

Now, if you played "We will bury you", triggering the event, you degraded DEFCON, you lost. Cuban Missile Crisis is irrelevant.

If you played Lone Gunman, the USSR can either use the OP without couping a battleground, and the game continues, or coup, losing the game, or remove 2 influence from Cuba, coup a battleground, and win. I'm guessing the last option is what happened.

Thanks for the response. This is excatly how it went.

Turn 7 AR5

US played missle envy
USSR revled cuban missle

AR6

USSR played missle envy for influence
US played panama canal returned event

AR7

USSR plays un intervention + cia created
US played lone gunman

They couped cuba and won?

So the only way that could have happened is if the USSR also had influence in Cuba, and removed 2 immediately before the Lone Gunman coup.

how would they remove? I dont get it. I am thinking. because it was the last round in the turn, the lone gunman triggered AFTER the turn? which cancels the CMC cause its only till the end of turn? It says they went to coup venezeula i think? he had 3 influnece in cuba already....but it said he removed two. how is this possible? I can type out the excat order of events in the last turn if you like.

Even so,, with that combination, how can he remove influence from his own controlled country? CMC got canceled somehow....how is that possible with what he played? (un intervention + cia created)

Read the text of Cuban Missile Crisis:
"This event may be cancelled at any time if the USSR removes two Influence from Cuba ..."

"at any time" is key here.

The Playdek app allows an active player to click on the CMC icon and remove 2 influence. Clearly this is what happened. Not a bug, not a problem, this is how the game is meant to work.

CMC is more powerful if the USSR doesn't have access to Cuba.

Oh I guess this is what happened? I didnt realize you could use the card to take away the influence...Thanks for the help
