How can anyone complete this game in 45 minutes online?
95% of the open games are set to 45 minutes. How is this even possible? Are you basically playing live, both on at the same time? I guess you have to. But, how do you both know when the game will get accepted so you can be online at the same time? Timing seems crucial here.

Also - I just don't see how you can complete an entire game in 45 minutes, even if you are playing live.

Well, the game is 90 minutes - each side has a 45 minute timer.

Too fast for me, but I know plenty of people who enjoy fast games.

I can finish a game in 30 mins even in 20 mins. The removal of 30 mins really hurts....

Gotcha, Benkyo. 45 minutes per side. But still, that's just ridiculously fast for me. I need to think. And go to the bathroom. And let the dogs out. And get yelled at for spending too much time on the computer. And stuff like that. :B1:

Sputnik - so just play your 45 minute games in 20 minutes. Done.

yes, you have to play live. before the pc version i used to play online via the according vassal modul. 45 each is quite commen, but for me it's to fast, 60 would be ok.

I usually play 45 day games, and finish within a week (my timer), while my opponents take anything from a week to a month.
If I were able to guarantee finishing a real time game in one sitting, an hour each would probably be OK for me, but I'd struggle against a really fast sub-30 minute player, so the 90 minutes or more options are best to provide a small time buffer against blitz players.

45 minutes is easily doable if you're familiar with the cards. I'd also check your settings and eliminate all the extraneous bells and whistles that greatly slow you down. As to knowiing when the game is accepted, your timer doesn't start for games you create until you start the game. For games you join, you just need to wait a minute until opponent starts. If not started within a minute, I might stay in the game and check back every couple of minutes. Or, I'll just exit out of the game and create my own.
