How to play online

I'm new to this format. How do I get started playing online? I tried joining a game but nothing happened. It kept saying "waiting on host."

game doesn't begin until the host starts it. So, continue to wait. Or, exit the game and join another. Or, create your own game and wait for someone to join.

The Vassal module has nothing to do with the Steam app...
