remote play does not work for Multiplayer split screen
I need help for setting multiplayer split screen for remote play. I tried different beta version. in the public beta, I'm able to have a split screen but my remote player are only able to control my screen (we share the same control) on the latest beta version playstab, the split screen doesn't get created. They can still control my screen and character and pause the game (just not split screen). when creating multiplayer, I used create lobby with local(used), I set the number of player to 2-4 (tested with 2 and 4). it didn't work. Any suggestion?

By default, you must have a 1 to 1 relationship of player and gamepad for splitscreen. If you want to have at least the first player only use keyboard and mouse (and thus the first gamepad starts off signed to player 2), open the console and enter
in_gamepad -
(note the dash, this is important) and the restart the game. This puts the game into a special mode where the first player is skipped assignment of a gamepad, leaving them with just the keyboard and mouse, and the gamepads are thus only assigned to player 2 onwards.

Edward850, thank you for the prompt reply. How do I open the console? Would it be the property launch command? We are doing remote play (they do not own copy of the game and I do not have additional controller connected to my pc). is there anyway all of us (max 3) that we can use controller with remote play? I read about starting a public/private lobby and then use local multiplayer but that was long ago.

Same as you do in other Quake style console (i.e most id Software games, all source engine games), while ingame, press the `/~ key next to the 1 on your keyboard.

Your question isn't specific enough, you just start any game with 3 players selected from the multiplayer menu so I'm unsure what more details to give you. It does not matter if the lobby online or local, though note the playfab beta doesn't allow online splitscreen, just local.

I'll give a try and update.

The main issue that I have is when playfab, it will not split screen when local multiplayer for 2-4 is selected, even when remote players's controller are detected. For some reason, instead of detecting them as separate controller, it will assign to mine(player one). For public beta online, I can split the screen because the option is available but it will have the same issue with remote player controlling my screen.

Player 1 is always controlled by the first gamepad. All players must have their own gamepad, or follow the steps indicated before to force assign the first gamepad to the second player. Likewise, remember there is only one keyboard and mouse that only controls player 1, you cannot have more, nor can you assign it to another player. Only gamepads can be used for splitscreen players.

Edward850, thank you so much! it worked. I was able to play with friends. "in_gamepad -" did the trick
