Turok 1 better than 2?
Am I the only one who found more enjoyment out of Turok 1 than 2? I was super excited to get 2 during the sale but ended up getting both because they were cheap. I played through 1 first (recently completed it) and loved the heck out of it.

Now I fired up 2 and it just feels so much more slower and the guns feel less impactful imho, and whats up with all of the objective markers?

I was just curious since most people prefer T2 over T1.

The objective markers can be turned off, and the weapons only seem like they're doing less damage because turok 2 added actual locational damage, so headshots matter.

Ah yeah I must have missed the option to disable them.

I mean the game is still fun but fast pace of the first game dosen't really carry over to the second imo.

Pace is plenty fast if you're actually trying for headshots. Only place I ever slow down is places where I'm doing tekbow sniping.

Oh. And straferunning. Always straferun.

Yeah I guess but it may be like you said, since headshots are so important you can't really run and gun like you could in T1 (unless you have godlike aim lol).

I get your point though, its still fast paced but you actually have to aim for specific body parts, unlike in T1 where you could just shoot in the enemies general direction and they die.

Thanks for the quick response :)

Not everyone like it fast paced. While turok 1 is a pure arcade fps turok 2 is more of an adventure fps. It have many more elements to collect, skills to unlock, far more cutscenes and story...

Yeah thats true but in games like this I just like blowing enemies to bits and moving on to the next level lol. The cutscenes doesn't interest me one bit, in fact it takes me out of it but I understand its an old game.

Yeah T2 Is fun but T1 was just pure fast paced action. Maybe my opinion will change later since I've only finished the first level.

About the only area where i think Turok 1 has the edge over the sequel, are the bosses. None of the bosses in Turok 2 except the Primagen were very fun or memorable, compared to the Longhunter and Thunder from the first game that really tested your skills.

I agree T2 improved a lot over T1 but I feel some changes bog down the pace some. I guess my problem was that I was expecting T2 to be more of the same, but it ended up being more different.

Both great games it just seems to be a preference thing.

I think T1 was an adventure shooter as well, just a fast paced one. Both T1 and T2 have simular setups, with different physics. I prefer 1 to two like the Op, 1 just had way more turok and less area 51 and bugmen. Still a little of that, but T2 broke the pace of T1's steamy jungle type of atmosphere by implementing levels that didn't seem like they belonged imo. Still the lair of the blind ones is one of my fav levels in gaming and why I go easy on T2 and consider it a classic. The lair of the blind ones should of had more mazes and twists like the catacombs in T1 tho, blind ones had an amazing theme and atmosphere, but not the level design the catacombs had, blind ones is a fairly straightforward level tho.

Yes T2 is technically better physics wise, and hit detection wise, plus sniping. But T1 to me had better themes and enemies... Played both over and over again, gotta go with T1. My main judgment on this tho, the last level in T1, way more boss than the primagens lightship which is basically shooting 3 bots over and over and looking at all the cool sci fi stuff.

I think Turok 2 could do with a substantially higher enemy count in higher difficulties to help with the pacing of combat. (Especially enemies that regenerate after leaving a level and coming back) I think the biggest problem is that there are often long stretches with no enemies to fight.

Don't try to convert turok into a call of duty.... (fight 100 enemies advance 10 meters and fight another 100 enemies.... rinse and repeat)
