Level 4 door key bug
So i missed the entrance to the first vent, went and did the other two vents. Came back and finally found the entrance to the first, but its telling me i dont have the key. Went looking throughout the entire level again for another door key and cant seem to find one. Heard this was a bug where you have the key in your inventory but wont let you open the door. Heard some people just reload an old save.... but i have only been saving over 1 save file this entire time.

Is there anything at all i can do to get past this problem? Or do i have to start the game over completely???

The key is located in the same area as the warp point that takes you to the first vent.
Watch this video, at around the 30 minute mark, if the key is not there then skip to the other videos in my walk through series.

Thanks for the response. Yeah, thats the key alright. i grabbed it and didnt know i had to jump over to get to the first vent. So now the key isnt there, and the door wont open.

Most likely you missed one of the other vent keys somewhere, try looking for them using my video guide.

Yeah, I've got the same problem. Pretty pissed. I ran through it three times. I'm so frustrated I'm on the verge of escalating a refund.

I haven’t experienced this myself, but I think I’ve seen other threads about this before. Could the cause of this bug be that if you skip that vent and have two keys when you open the next one, the game will consume the two keys from your inventory ?

It’s because of those kind of bugs and permanently missable things that I always keep several saves. I don’t have the game installed anymore currently, but isn’t there any way to restart a specific level ?

This reminds me a funny anecdote long ago, which made me start to always use several save slots : I was playing Tomb Raider 2, and I was on the snowmobile far in the game… and suddenly I fell down a crevice and I didn’t wait to hit the bottom to reload the game, except that I pressed the “quick save“ key instead of “quick reload”. The game didn’t use a separate slot for quick saves, and I had been using a single slot all the time, so this ruined the entire game for me because when I reloaded, I was mid-air falling down 😂

If you are still stuck with this bug, there's a way to get out of the level without using cheats, find one of the Adon portals and select quick travel to go back to the hub.

I ended up restarting the game, and deleted that save. Playing through the first 3 levels was fun i dont mind doing it again. I did it the right way this time and now im in the hive of the Mantids. Im sure ill be looking to your video soon enough :)
