Smartest Level Order
I'd say the smartest progression is Level 1, 3, 2, 5, 4, 6

Level 3 is easier and shorter than 2, you get the Plasma Rifle and Grenade Launcher there, and the Water tallisman which is neat for Level 2.

Level 4 has the Charge Dart which really comes in handy in Level 5, but you also get it very early in Level 5 too. The other weapon you get in Level 4 is the Pods, which is decent. You also get the Flame Thrower tho, which is really good at tackling multiple enemies likein Level 5. In Level 5 however you get the Firestorm, PFM Layer AND the Scorpion. Having those weapons in Level 4 is very nice. So I'd say it's best to do Level 5 before Level 4.

I have this old thing from my childhood with the original game where I play 1, then 2, then 4, then 3, 5, 6 and THEN return for a second pass where necessary for the primagen keys.

The reason I go through 4 before 3 is that in 3 the primagen key is located in an area that's connected to the rest of the level by an underwater tunnel and I was NEVER able to get out of that area without the torpedo launcher to propel me through the currents. I guess you could drown yourself or something.

Not sure if it's still a thing in the remaster, or if there's actually a very obvious way to get out of the primagen key area in level 3 that I've been missing my whole life... Especially since I always hear people say level 3 is great because you can do it in one pass, meaning you should be able to get the primagen key, right? And I've never heard anyone going to 4 before 3 like I do.

OP listed the optimal way to do the levels, since it minimizes backtracking, but with the addition of quickwarp, even on hardcore im doing things in order.

If u tap forward key all the time, instead of holding, u swim faster, I didn't have any problem there without torpedo launcher

2 questions. I have the Ps4 version And is there a way to tell the level number after the pillars go down? I left the level Death Marshes through the checkpoint warp and I saved 1 prisoner and went to level 2 so if I do that will the prisoner be "recaptured"? or does it remember that I saved him?
