Turok
Question about controls
Is there an option to run/strafe with the right stick and aim/turn with the left stick? Just like with the original turok where you had to run/strafe using your right thumb on the C buttons, and look/turn with your left thumb on the control stick.

I still use these controls for any FPS to this day, it's all because of this game, this was my first fps i ever played back when i was around 15 years old. I used these controls in Goldeneye 007 and Perfect Dark too, always used these controls ever since. It's almost impossible for me to get used to other controls.

Hi. lol I remember that... first time in a FPS history we had free look in a analog stick.

There is a cfg config file that allows you to do all sorts of changes in the gamepad controls. Can't tell you for sure if you can invert the analog sticks, but even if you can, in Turok it had auto centre view, so the aim would always come back to the default position.. This I'm sure you can't do in this game, the view will stay where you left it.

I just checked the cfg.. and it doesn't look like you can invert the analags, sorry.
Not sure though.

Why don't you buy it and if it doesn't work for you, you get a refund?

Well that's a shame. I'm not sure if i will blow 16 euros on this if there are no controls i want to use as an option. It is a great game though.

I'm not sure yet if i want to pay 16 euros for it, it's not that much but 10 euros would have been a more reasonable price imo

Yeah man.. But how do you play any modern FPSs? Turok had a very old control scheme and it was pretty much an experiment that evolves to how FPSs control today. I don't think you can have Auto Centre View in any FPS now... can you? You have to adapt brother. The game still fun and plays very well. As I said, you don't need to blow 16 euros. You have 2 hours to experiment around with the game and feel if you like it. If you not, you can get your money back. Nothing to lose.

I know, some modern FPS games can be a struggle, especially when there is a jump option, always have to re-map all the buttons in order to jump with a shoulder button, just like in turok.

Otherwise i'm forced to press the jump button with the tip of my thumb while my thumb is moving the right stick upward (forward).

Sometimes there isn't even an option to swap the sticks and i have to resort to software like motioninjoy or x360ce...

On consoles you can't do this, one of the many reasons why i switched over to pc as my main gaming platform. There have been times i bought an fps only to come home and find out there wasn't an option to re-map the controls. To this day im still wondering why the hell the don't give you to option to fully re-map the controls in a videogame on a console, just like Timesplitters 2 did.

The "look spring" thing not being there in modern fps games is not really a problem though, i'm used to that, it's just that turok had this so i think it will feel weird to play it without them.

Perhaps you shoot look into Steam controller. I don't own one, but apparently you can rebind every single thing on it.

I looked at some reviews, but it seems like the controller only has 1 stick on the left and the right pad is supposed to act like the mouse? I guess maybe you can use that pad to run strafe too. Perhaps i will buy one sooner or later.
