I agree with this!
when i try to study old games to find some gems im surprised that lots and lots games from 2006-2012 the ps3 generation are not on steam.
Turok isn't a dudebro game it's a fun bouncy fast shooter based on silly comic book stuff.
I do because regrettably it is named one and there is no way around that, see: (The title of the game).
As correct as you can get which is why it should not have been a Turok game. There is a name for this, it's called "blatant cashgrab".
It's not fun as a shooter from any year as it also fails to be better than the gears game it was ripped off from, because cashgrab. It did nothing except to further oversaturate an already oversaturated market full of generic dudebro gears ripoffs trying to get rich quick.
Me too! I wish it wasn't a Turok game a whole whole whole lot. A whole whole whole whole lot lot lot lot lot.
We had enough of those as of in the year 2000. Me want fun bouncy old school impossible cartoon logic shooter fun fast game shoot em up dead fun happy time blast game not boring slow realistic survival boring movie game no fun bad game bad.
Remastering a bad game does not fix its inherent design flaws. If they remastered it all it would be is a new HUD and versions for modern consoles. This is why Turok 2008 is so bad, it has completely fragmented the community into thinking they want it and now you see clamors for a remaster, if the game were remastered it would come back and further fragment the community further every 15 years it was remastered again and again. Better to kill it now.
Turok is one of the worst examples of a game hitting critical mass and passing a singularity and imploding in on itself to form a black hole, because they didn't just pull the usual "clueless company buying the IP and doing a 90 degree turn with it", they did a complete 180 with it because it was released at the time where dudebro games were popular. If they had just waited until now when "boomer shooter" games made a comeback, we would have gotten a much better Turok game. Boomer shooter games are always fun no matter what the year is, and dudebro games were only popular for 8 years or so from 2005 onward and thus Turok 2008 will always feel out of place. It was made at absolutely positively the worst time where the "expectation" of what it should be is as furiously intensely polar opposite to what makes Turok great.
Imagine if the passion for boomer shooters was alive as it is now, but in 2008, and now take the development cost of 2008 and transfer it over. You probably would have gotten a remaster of all 3 N64 Turok games out of the gate and plus 1,000 hours of extra content via new missions in all 3. Imagine if they had taken the development money for 2008 and done that instead, and changed history and how much of a greater interest there would be in the actual Turok games now if that had happened in 2008. But no, because things happened the way they did, we are forever stuck with a garbage turbo trash gears of war ripoff that has aged like milk. Remastering 2008 (even if it is pretty much just a port to modern systems) will further take the series backwards. Turok is not a dudebro game.
Bad bad bad bad dudebro game not-turok super duper super not-turok super super bad dudebro game not turok super duper not turok super dudebro-bad-game super super bad bad bad game dudebro bad game not-turok.
