I agree with this!
I played turok 2008, amazing game. haven't tried the first games tho, ill get to try them soon.

Im sad that turok 2008 is not on steam. i downloaded online because i really didnt found anywhere else to buy and i loved it. its generic but i found it fun. not every game has to have a good artificial inteligence enemies and realistic everything to work. the thing is, this game dont work pretty good with gamepad, because escaping from dinosaurs need more skills than a controller can give it to you. its meant to be played with mouse and keyboard.
when i try to study old games to find some gems im surprised that lots and lots games from 2006-2012 the ps3 generation are not on steam.

DudeBros go away. Turok 2008 is dudebro: the game and from a time where everyone was copying Gears of War. It's basically Gears of Turok. Thanks to dudebros this was the very very final nail in the coffin for any brand new turok games that are not remasters/re-releases. It's bad bad bad bad bad bad bad every gaming magazine gave it a bad bad bad bad score because it is bad bad bad bad. Bad AI, bad mechanics, bad knife mechanics that kill you, stupid story, generic dudebro characters, has nothing to do with Turok right down to the weapons being generic and sucking (what is Turok without silly crazy weapons?), everything is a cutscene right down to killing individual enemies, locked to 45?ish FOV because the weapons mess up even if you change it. Go actually play it again and remember.

Turok isn't a dudebro game it's a fun bouncy fast shooter based on silly comic book stuff.

The 2008 slander is crazy in this thread. The games no masterpiece but its not nearly as bad as you guys are saying. Playing through it again right now and theres some pretty badass sequences and the dinosaurs have better path finding than the dinos in Ark a lot of times. Sure I guess if you wanna score it just as a Turok game it scores pretty low and I agree it has nothing to do with Turok besides the name of the main character but just as a shooter from 2008 its pretty ♥♥♥♥♥♥ fun. I honestly wish it wasnt a Turok game because I could see that game being the perfect platform to make a more survival horror type of military dinosaur game. But if they did by some miracle want to remaster it, it would likely be more in the vein of DOOM 2016.

Turok is not supposed to have sequences, it is supposed to have gameplay. Sequences means you are not playing a game. You might as well ask for a Turok live action movie.

I do because regrettably it is named one and there is no way around that, see: (The title of the game).

As correct as you can get which is why it should not have been a Turok game. There is a name for this, it's called "blatant cashgrab".

It's not fun as a shooter from any year as it also fails to be better than the gears game it was ripped off from, because cashgrab. It did nothing except to further oversaturate an already oversaturated market full of generic dudebro gears ripoffs trying to get rich quick.

Me too! I wish it wasn't a Turok game a whole whole whole lot. A whole whole whole whole lot lot lot lot lot.

We had enough of those as of in the year 2000. Me want fun bouncy old school impossible cartoon logic shooter fun fast game shoot em up dead fun happy time blast game not boring slow realistic survival boring movie game no fun bad game bad.

Remastering a bad game does not fix its inherent design flaws. If they remastered it all it would be is a new HUD and versions for modern consoles. This is why Turok 2008 is so bad, it has completely fragmented the community into thinking they want it and now you see clamors for a remaster, if the game were remastered it would come back and further fragment the community further every 15 years it was remastered again and again. Better to kill it now.

Turok is one of the worst examples of a game hitting critical mass and passing a singularity and imploding in on itself to form a black hole, because they didn't just pull the usual "clueless company buying the IP and doing a 90 degree turn with it", they did a complete 180 with it because it was released at the time where dudebro games were popular. If they had just waited until now when "boomer shooter" games made a comeback, we would have gotten a much better Turok game. Boomer shooter games are always fun no matter what the year is, and dudebro games were only popular for 8 years or so from 2005 onward and thus Turok 2008 will always feel out of place. It was made at absolutely positively the worst time where the "expectation" of what it should be is as furiously intensely polar opposite to what makes Turok great.

Imagine if the passion for boomer shooters was alive as it is now, but in 2008, and now take the development cost of 2008 and transfer it over. You probably would have gotten a remaster of all 3 N64 Turok games out of the gate and plus 1,000 hours of extra content via new missions in all 3. Imagine if they had taken the development money for 2008 and done that instead, and changed history and how much of a greater interest there would be in the actual Turok games now if that had happened in 2008. But no, because things happened the way they did, we are forever stuck with a garbage turbo trash gears of war ripoff that has aged like milk. Remastering 2008 (even if it is pretty much just a port to modern systems) will further take the series backwards. Turok is not a dudebro game.

Bad bad bad bad dudebro game not-turok super duper super not-turok super super bad dudebro game not turok super duper not turok super dudebro-bad-game super super bad bad bad game dudebro bad game not-turok.

Why complain about Turok 2008? If Nightdive fixes it and puts it on Steam you don't have to buy it? Why spoil it for everyone else?

Years ago Nightdive posted if they should release Turok 2008 to a mixed response. Am guessing they have rights to the Turok franchise to some degree? They should not release it in it's current state, but if they fixed the FOV issues, which should not be a big deal they could make a bit more money and the game still looks ok in 4K with Reshade. There are not many single-player modern pc dino-games out there...like none. So why not?

Because the game sucked.

I personally loved this game. I would buy it in a heartbeat if it were to re-release on Steam. Things like achievements, controller support, etc would be a must. And I would hope that they'd make the game Mature and add blood to human enemy kills. If memory serves, it was rated Teen and the enemies just had "sparks" when you killed them instead of blood, which is pretty lame.

It was rated M and there was definitely blood but only for the dinosaurs. Humans sparked.
