Targeting reticle?
This port is great and it really clears up all the problems I had with the game on N64. Except for one. Is there any way I can get a targeting reticle? It's almost impossible to hit something from any kind of distance with accuracy because I can't see where I'm going to shoot.

Just get good at it. Crosshair is for sissies. =P

Go into Options - Gameplay - HUD Options - select Show Crosshair.

Honestly in the N64 version I had the auto-map up most of the time because the triangle for the player doubled as a crosshair.

Did the 64 version have a crosshair?

No. But as I said at times I would leave the auto-map on, since the triangle that represents your position is dead-center to where the weapon will hit.

Then practice a few minutes.
I only played for 30 minutes now and was already able to pretty reliably hit stuff near the fog wall.

Or he could just turn on the reticle in the options.

Jellopie: thank you. To those who are suggesting 'git gud'. piss off that isn't what I asked.

And yet, it's much more satisfying and natural in this game to play without a reticle.

yeah because I'm looking for natural in a game where you play a native american that kills dinosaurs with energy weapons.

Speak for yourself. I played with the map on 99% of the time in the n64 version to have a reticle.

I wouldn't mind the map if you could adjust the opacity, but it's so irritating to me that I tend to hit nothing when I'm in a larger cave (pretty much the only area I used it occasionally).

Those things don't really have anything to do with the gameplay.

well you can keep on playing with no crosshair, but I prefer to have some form of accuracy.
Jellopie May 1, 2016 @ 9:54pm
Quake 2 had a crosshair, Half-Life had a crosshair. GoldenEye had manual aiming with a crosshair. Once games moved from fixed plane with auto-aim and went to mouse-look or joy-look, crosshairs became common-place. Because you didn't have a weapon set in the center of the screen, and you didn't have mouse-look, unless you enabled it. It makes sense when you have to aim at enemies both left and right and up and down to have something to tell you where the shot will land.

And it's an option in the menu. If it was such a huge deal, why would it be an option? What was so hard about telling the OP where to find the option? This 'git gud' thing is getting really annoying. Just help someone out once in a while, you'll feel better than the smug sense of satisfaction you get from typing 'lol git gud noob'.

Too salty?

You already did.
I also never use the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ meme you mentioned.

You didn't use it, but you implied it with your:

No need to be an ass because someone wants to play the game differently than you do.
