Alpha Polaris is basically a supernatural thriller film in the form of a point-and-click adventure game. It's also not much longer than a movie: I finished it in a few hours, including quite a bit of wandering around exploring and/or stuck. It doesn't really have anything to do with the Cthulhu mythos, despite how it's advertised--it's more of a general Lovecraftian vibe about ancient, inhuman evils, dreams, madness, and isolation.

This game's a bit old-school. It doesn't hold your hand. I found myself having to step back and think about what I was actually trying to accomplish, rather than just working through whatever puzzle was in front of me. I found it rather challenging at the start, but once I got on its wavelength I got through the rest of it fairly easily.

Also, it's hard to argue with the price, considering it's free.

Very engaging old school arctic horror puzzle game !

A game that delivers on its promises. An intriguing point and click mystery with old horror movie vibes. I loved the artwork, music, sound and voice acting. The story unfolds at its own pace and while the ending is somewhat predictable, it is well presented. The puzzles weren't impossibly hard (ok, the parser puzzles had me stumped for a while). Please note: Steam Trading Cards no longer drop for this free to play game.

Highly recommended for point and click adventure fans.

I've paid for games nowhere near as good as this. It's free. What's not to like?

Not scary to me at all, but I really dig its atmosphere. The lighting and music give off that classic point-and-click vibe. The voice acting is mostly good and the plot is interesting. I think the puzzles are just complex enough, although there's one near the climax that kind of slowed down the whole experience for me(maybe I'm just dumb lol). There's a very sloppy sex-scene in there though, thought that was very lame and forced.

It was fun to pass the time, but not one I would call great. I would recommend to try.

Entertaining. Got stumped a couple of times, but not too difficult. Seems to have just dropped off with a lot of potential. Alpha Polaris 2 ?

A fun point and click game with some horror elements, but keep in mind that the horror elements are very light so don't expect to be scared. The plot was interesting and the characters were decent. The puzzles were also pretty good, though some were a bit esoteric. However, if you get stuck you can bring up your Steam overlay and access a well written Steam guide. I didn't have any problems with most of the puzzles, but it was nice to have help on some of them, particularly the ones where you need to type a word and the game is very specific on what word it wants.

The game does get a bit preachy in some parts regarding the climate change and Eskimo culture. I could've done without that bit, but it's not too bad relative to the stuff you see more more recent media.

Overall, the game is free, so give it a try if you like point and click games!

Wonderful Lovecraft game. Honestly one of the better one's I've played.
