Mischievous Fairies?

Does anyone know how far the fairies will have gone from the fey mansion? I have been running around town and the area surrounding it and have only found one. I remember playing months ago and finding the fairies mostly throughout town but I'm having such a hard time finding them this time...

They have a similar spawn rarity to the rhino beetles, so they're actually pretty rare. They can spawn as close to the town as butterflies. (Meaning even inside the town.)

They will spawn anywhere butterflies spawn. So go and catch all the butterflies and mischievous fairies you can find and the next day more will spawn. Each world gen is different and so one world you might have lots of butterfly spawn spots in town. The next world they might all be out by the beach.

Thanks for your replies! I ended up only seeing one "good" and one "bad" fairy during the entire festival but I finished the mansion anyway. Next time it rolls around I'll have to expand my search further into the woods.
