Question about hosting a server with mods
So I have mods on staxel, and I like running servers. I was wondering if there was any way to make the mods on the server automatically distribute to others who join. Because I have ALOT of mods, 38, though most of them are just clothing and decorative items. I'm not sure if you can randomly join a server if it's modded, or if you have to download the same mods in order to join. I'm seeing and experiencing conflicting information on this. With some people saying they should automatically distribute, and I've personally been able to go into servers that were modded. With others saying no you can't, and I've had issues with people joining my server if they don't have the same exact mods. What's going on with this?

if they are workshop mods you could create a collection that people could just click one button to grab all of the mods you have.....if they aren't though I'm unsure

How do I create a collection? They are all workshop mods.

Technically yes, When player join the server it automatically pulls the data from the server into the player asset.bundle file.

BUT only certain mods that require a manual download are mostly the ones that are .dll files, example the sprinkler. My server also contain a load of mods but only a few needs actually downloading. So far the only 3 mods that need manual downloading that i know of is StorageCrate, Telepad and Sprinkler.

Player must manually subscribe to those mods then update them through mod manager tool. I have over 20+ Players on my server and its always those 3 mods that people get entity error with but if they manual subscribe it fixes for them.

So the ones with .dll files need to be manually subbed to?

Yes. So how i do it is.

When i subscribe on my main pc then switch over to server running content builder itll tell you that.

This mod may contain malcious something something thats how you know that mod uses a .dll.

Grab the link and post it to your friends. Make a steam group or a discord to provide them those links.

But like you said you only use like clothing so you should be fine i also have all the clothing which non is .dll.

Also if player are having issue connecting like game freeze while loading its cause it freezes but will respond again when mods are being downloaded. Player should just minimize or dont touch the game.

Depending on there connection there asset.bundle downloading may be slower or faster then others as well.

It looks like I have quite a few Dll files. I have like, furniture items, inventory value tooltip and automatrox as well. It's not just clothing, it's just that a majority of the mods are character and decorative things like lamps and aquariums. A small handful add new tables and things entirely like gem workshop and idomod.

Oh i dont have those mods you listed. xD i only add mods people will actually use or itd just be a waste of space.

Well, Alot of them are popular. Some of them I use, so not really a waste even if it's just me that likes something XD
