Special Mushroom/Mushroom Potion

I can't believe it, but I'm stuck at this point in the quest: I finally found the special mushroom in the mines, gave it to Cirahna who, in turn, gave me the mushroom potion to drink. But how to drink it? I cannot! RMB or LMB don't work, neither do a dozen other keys I pressed.
What's more is that I accidentally picked up again the special mushroom which was laying on the floor next to Cirahna and now I'm stuck with it in my inventory for all eternity, since it has a blue background and Cirahna doesn't want to take it again off my hands.
Going back to the potion, can anyone help me figure out how to drink it? I know that LMB should work, but it didn't in my case.
Also, if devs are looking at this, can you please add the option in the game to be able to get rid of unwanted (most of the time, duplicates) blue-background items. The special mushroom which reappeared on the ground after being given to Cirahna is such a case. But in the past I was stuck in my inventory with other special items, like the wedding gift which I crafted twice.

The special mushroom should go away after talking to Morel past finishing the quest.

At the time were you currently transformed with some other potion?

Thanks for replying to me. It's good to know that the mushroom will disappear, if I get with Morel that far into the story. Hopefully, we can sort out the potion.
No, I wasn't transformed. In fact, I haven't consumed anything--potion or not--so far. I have quite the collection of transformtion potions in storage, but I didn't know what they were for and forgot about them.

Ok, so I figured it out by mistake. It was a silly thing on my part, but since I've never tried to consume anything in game before, I have an excuse.
It turns out that I do have to press LMB, but I need to keep it pressed for a while: it looks like it takes time to drink/eat something. It's fine; I just think that there should be some feedback--sound, animation?--to show the player that an action is performed and it takes time... something like smoking the apiaries. All in all I'm glad I figured it out. I hope I won't look like a mushroom for too long though.

got all the above except how to drink the potion. when I press RMB or LMB all I get is the map. what am I doing wrong?

Sounds like you have some key binding issues? You can reset them in the options menu.
