I need to know if this is worth my time
I've scrolled through countless reviews and I haven't seen a single person address this.

Please, can somebody tell me if this is as cringeworthy as it looks? Yeah, I know it's not a game about ponies. I know it's programmed by Satan or whatever. The game advertises itself as that. If it didn't and the dark elements were unexpected, I'd understand the popularity a bit more. From the trailers, this looks so painfully "lol dark and edgy!!!"

Nobody seems to talk about that in reviews, though. I need advice from someone with similar thoughts. Will this game intrigue me or make me roll my eyes at the forced spookiness? Is it smarter than it looks? Is it self aware, or does it play itself straight? Basically, is this just going to be another of a million stories that looks cute but is actually dark?

Maybe it's a late response, and I don't quite get what exactly you hope to find in this game, but I'll try to describe it.

It's more fun than dark. Yes, it has some dark ambience as a part of its stile, but it even doesn't try to scare you seriously. This game constantly breaks ... well, not actually the 4th wall... I'd rather say a 3.5th wall :). You play as a player of an arcade machine which is ... let's say "obsessed" and very glitching, and you are going to spend a lot of time messing with it's firmware and OS. And this machine will be avare of it.

The game keeps you intrigued because it changes constantly and you don't know what you will be doing farther. Gameplay wise it's a combination of an arcade and some very abstract programming simulator.

I hope this was helpfull.

I'm sorry if my initial question wasn't clear enough, but I do think your response helped. I guess I read the premise that "the game was programmed by the devil himself" and I was worried about how seriously it was going to take that premise.

To hopefully explain things better, I have a hard time enjoying something that thinks it's deep/scary/epic but is really ridiculous and kind of goofy. If the game knows it's goofy and has fun with the premise, then I'll probably be able to enjoy it.

It's self aware.

It never takes itself too seriously imo, and it had clever moments. Worth it.

Bought the game today, and I think you'll like it. It's an extremely clever puzzle game.

It's short, but if you haven't bought it yet, it's only $1.49 right now (the Halloween sale).

Yeah I just bought it on sale too just because of all the positive reviews, and the premise seemed interesting. I wouldn't call it cringey.
