Ball Control - What were you thinking?

Incendiary title aside, I really do wonder. This would be one of my all time favourite games, but the strange control scheme is sucking the fun out of the game for me.

I assume you made the controls that way to keep it challenging. But way too often the camera ends up in a strange place and thus I cannot control the ball as I would like.

Personally I view this as a cardinal sin in game design. When you build a skill based game, the player should never suffer from being unable to control his character. It only produces frustration.

I would have given this game a negative review due to the imprecise control scheme but your team picture got to me. So instead I wrote this little rant in hopes of it reaching your open ears.

HI thanks for your message and sorry to hear you are not enjoying the controls of the game. Are you using the default basic controls or the more advanced ones? The latter are the ones we originally shipped but for more novice players we then introduced a simpler single stick control. We know the latter isn't perfect but we also understand that some players struggle with dual stick controls. Thanks for getting in touch. We do listen to our players.

I felt that way at first until I understood how to move the ball where I wanted. Hopefully it gets easier for you.

ditto. once I understood I needed to stay behind the ball, I can get it to do about anything.

The controls are horrible, I play with mouse and keyboard and I have absolutely no idea how to steer the ball. What the hell is this "stick" mentioned in the settings or menu? Normal games just use, you know, the freaking arrows or WASD. Just hitting the ball randomly with no more control than a click gets old pretty quickly...

I don't mind if there's a learning curve to get used to the controls, but I do mind if I can't even find the controls :s The controls part of the settings is a joke: not only you can't remap anything, but you can't even see all the controls...

I have to agree ... i really like the game for what it is but the controls sometimes feels like a piece of ♥♥♥♥. Especially in the putting challenges. With gamepad iam just too slow to aim correctly and with mouse often it shoots high insteed of low and screws all up :/

I can't control the ball too, it says "Direction Buttons" but the arrow keys don't do anything.
