Gold Bricks, do we get to do anything with them?

So I'm doing pretty well, completion-wise, collected plenty of stuff including 100+ gold bricks. In previous games, there's a room in which you can build stuff with gold bricks, some-times even unlockable areas accessed via building gold bricks but I've not found that yet in Avengers. What do we do with them?

I haven't beaten the game yet but there should be a bonus area after getting 100% like in the last Marvel Lego game was Tony Stark's liffle after party. Should be something similar here

Those are unlocked after going through the first movie story arc. Nothing to do with getting all the gold bricks

I can 100% confirm this, they are unlocked once you finish the first movie and not by the bricks.
If it goes by the Batman 3 game which seems similar to this then I'd guess that the gold bricks mean nothing other than grind to get your 100% completion.

I have completed everything in story mode and I can get into the penthouse, but there is nothing there. Am I missing something.

from what i gathered on a playthrough that the penthouse in the avengers tower shows the hulk selfies and some other things you get throughout the different hubs in the game (SPOILER: I saw a coffee mug similar to the one you have ti find for Captain Britain's Quest in Washington DC)

It's kind of a let down that there doesn't seem to be a use for these. LEGO Marvel Super Heroes gave us some weird extra levels at least. If those extra three missions are supposed to be the hidden levels in this, that makes me sad.

It's already been said that they're not hidden levels; they are additional story unlocked after the first story arc. There do not appear to be any bonus levels in the traditional sense.
