The Manhattan map is the same size, but you can also explore other areas like SHIELD Base (where The Avengers starts), Tony Stark's Malibu pad (Iron Man 3) and Asgard (Thor: The Dark World), as well as small areas of Washington DC (The Winter Soldier), South Africa (Age of Ultron) and Sokovia (Age of Ultron). They function as mini-hubs, like the different Lantern planets in Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham, where you can explore and unlock additional characters, vehicles and gold bricks. The movie each mini-hub ties into should give you a clue as to the characters you unlock there, such as Iron Man suits in Malibu, Thor characters in Asgard and Captain America characters in DC.

I personally think it's so much better, because they really haven't put any limits to characters powers

I think it's a worse game for several reasons.
The story is just copied straight from the movies, including all of the character dialogue (except for that of the mission briefings and such), and the humour suffers greatly because of it, as well. Some of the "jokes" drag on way too much.
The dialogue from the movies is often poor quality and grainy, and the characters constantly repeat the same quotes when doing stuff, which starts getting quite annoying after a while.

I also thought that the levels in this game are a lot less interesting, especially the boss fights are incredibly dull. In the first game, they were basically puzzles you had to solve, but in this game just about all bosses work like this:
Boss is invulnerable, you fight goons, boss becomes vulnerable, you punch them for X amount of damage, boss becomes invulnerable, rinse and repeat.

There's also way too many infinite spawns of thugs making solving the puzzles in the levels really annoying because their knockback constantly interrupts you.

Finally, the Manhattan map of this game is a straight up copy of the one from the first game, only that the X-Mansion was replaced with some random building. The other hub maps are really small (though admittedly Asgard is quite impressive looking).

I mean, it's not a bad game by any stretch, but I think the first one is so much better.

The Manhattan map is almost the same, but now you can go inside Avengers Tower, they removed Baxter Building, X-Mansion, and some other places related to characters not owned by Marvel Studios. You can also go to Hub Worlds, like Stark Mansion, Washington DC, Asgard, but none of them is as big as Manhattan. My only problem with the Manhattan hub is the sunset lightning of it. I can't describe it very well, but the LMSH map's lighting is SO much better, it give a feeling that the city is more alive, the sunset lightning is just weird. This is why I pass most of time in hub with afternoon lighting, like Asgard or Sokovia.

For the story mode, well, it just follows the movies. People who play it in English said that the dialogue is really bad, because they took it from the movies, but since I played the game dubbed, I didn't have any problem. The levels are kinda poor designed, not like LMSH or LEGO TFA that are interesting, with fun puzzles. Like Red Arremer said, all boss battles are basically the same. I'm not even going to talk about that quests where you have to fight that mini bosses. Those are REALLY annoying. After you finished the main story, you can do some extra levels. Some of them are pretty simple and repetitive. Instead of that comic style cutscenes, they could've used REAL cutscenes, like the extra levels from LEGO TFA, that are a billion times better.

The gameplay is better than LMSH, but is still not Co-Op friendly. The combat, like most LEGO games is repetitve and simple: button smashing, button smashing, button smashing...

The character roster has many interesting faces, but the developers made some really weird choices, like putting some characters that the people who don't read comics never heard of, instead of including characters like the Guardians of The Galaxy, and many others. If, at least, they were kinda unique, like some of LMSH characters, it would be a lot better, but most of them are just the same thing, over and over.

For character customization, it's bad. I know most of people don't care about this, but I do. It don't have too many options of powers and abilities, and it's even worse than other LEGO games like Marvel Super Heroes or Jurassic World.

One of the worst things about this game, is the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ DLC thing. This game has a lot of DLC packs. The level packs are, for the most part, lame. The Captain Marvel pack have one of the worst levels I've ever played in any LEGO game. It's short, has poor dialogue, and ends in the middle of a really weird cliffhanger. Also, Masters of Evil is also a really poor level. On the other hand, the Black Panther level is pretty nice, and the Dr. Strange level, even not being a co-op friendly level, is ok too. Agents of Shield is probably the best DLC of all of them. About the characters in these packs, most of them are LAME, with some exceptions, like Dr. Voodoo, Dormammu and Quake. But I was really disappointed with some of them, who were just copy and paste of characters that were already in the main game. But, the worst of all of this, are the Civil War and Ant-Man DLCs. TT not only keep these packs as PS4 and PS3 exclusive DLCs for months, but then released them as NOT PART OF THE SEASON PASS. I'M STILL WONDERING WHY THAT ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ CIVIL WAR DLC IS PAID, IF IT ONLY UNLOCKS A FEW CHARACTERS, THAT ARE MOSTLY ONLY SKINS TO THEIR MAIN GAME VERSIONS. Also, I still haven't bought the Ant-Man DLC, and I'm not going to, cause I'm tired of this ♥♥♥♥. But if you want to buy it, go ahead, it's looking pretty good, I'm just not going to pay for something that some people have already played for free months before me.

In the end, it's not a bad game. But it's sure disappointing, they could've done a much better game with so much more content, and so much less cash grabbing.

One of the biggest issues with having such a large HUB IMO, is the lack of a map. Instead of seeing where you are, you have dots on a radar telling you where stuff like characters and gold bricks are. Kind of makes exploring pointless IMO, since where you are doesn't really matter so much as you know where the next objective is.
At least the flying's ok
