If you press too late, your foot hits the ground in front of your body and that makes you jump. This is also explained in the tutorial:
"to take off, push off the ground with your foot ahead of your body."
You will do it. I believe in you :)
it is natural to want to press the key as your foot hits the ground,
but by doing this you place the power of the foot to push you up,
where you need the power to be pushing behind you as you foot moves back in order to move forward,
OH and something I left out, I can only run by luck, I cannot get out of the habit of pressing as my foot moves forward, Looks like I will be jumpimg and hopping for some time.good luck.
and the tutorial just doesnt help
Believe me, the problem is always in the beggining where you get to avoid bouncing by tapping the ground.
"release the arrow a moment before it hits underneath you"
i don't really understand what this means, what does hit underneath you, arrows are only buttons on the keyboard, they can't "hit" .-.
could someone explain?
- still, you bounce, but just a little bit less.
- it's hard to time.
- it's hard to keep it as well.
- it's hard to jump over a hurdle when you somehow keep it.
Yes it's hard, of course, you have to earn the victory! :)
