Godot 4.4 - Slower?
Hi Guys,
I just got Godot 4.4 via Steam. I updated from 4.3 and did the same for my project, but now it's incredibly slow, hanging every two seconds even if i just write in the script. I can't work like this at all. Is it just an issue with my old hardware, or is this a common problem that they are working to fix?

For me the editor becomes almost unresponsible while the game is running in debug mode, but with the game closed I didn't notice any difference.

Edit: My PC is quite strong though, maybe on weaker hardware there's more of a difference while the game is not running.

Enabling "single window mode" on the editor settings fixed it for me.

I have the same issue in 4.4, I didn't have it in 4.3.
the same problem, how to solve it, it became inconvenient to work

Go to the editor settings and enable "single window mode", it'll work the same as 4.3 that way.
Single window mode also disables the new feature that allows you to test your game in the editor.
I got +32GB RAM today, and that seems to have fixed the issue for me, lol. I like the new feature! Is there a way to switch it off for just one file instead of the whole project? For example, I have a file with dialogue that has around 90K lines, and I don’t need the new feature to work there, but I’d still like it to work on my scripts.

Try disabling multi-window instead of enabling single-window. I don't know why both options exist, but in my experience both solved the performance issues, but only the single-window option disabled the new feature
Okay, it seems that adding extra RAM, disabling multi-window, and enabling single-window mode didn't completely fix the issue. Large scripts work fine as long as you stay in them, but if you switch to another tab and then return, the editor freezes for 3-4 seconds every time. There must be another underlying issue.
Another update: The problem with tabbing out occurs not only in large files—I also experience small freezes in smaller scripts.

For me Godot is chugging overall since the update. Second Monitor YouTube starts to buffer, mouse is lagging, and more.

64gb DDR5 6400Mhz Ram
Intel Core Ultra 7 265KF
GeForce RTX 3080

Funny thing is, I cant see any spikes in taskmanager. Everything is idle as frigg.
When I switch Godot from Forward+ to Compatibility, Godot seems to run smoother?

But starting my Scene can take up to 5 minutes (Node2D, TileMapLayer, Node, Texture, with a 19 Line script that assigns just some variables... so nothing at all)

Edit:
Problem also occurs in the Godot downloaded client, not only in the steam version
