Thanks, we'll investigate and see if we can find a workaround for this :)
I'm having the same problem while using windows 10 64bit. Steam stops tracking app usage immediately after clicking my project. Thanks for taking a look into the issue

Same issue on Win10 64 bit. It's a little annoying considering I like to acknowledge the time I spend working on a project, so a fix would be much appreciated.
Heya. Old post, but this is still happening. Steam isn't detecting the new process properly. Has anyone found a workaround yet (other than running it on linux)?

ok, i left the project list launcher open last night for an hour, and it logged that properly.
That is the only time it will register any time in Windows so far as I know. It's when people are in projects, it stops logging them as even using Godot.
Not logging hours correctly
Not that this is that important but it seems Godot only logs time played while in the initial menu. Once you open a project it says the Steam profile is not in-game anymore so isn't logging the hours put into Godot. If this could be fixed I'd appreciate it. I like to see my hours logged :D

Yep, that's the same issue as http://steamcommunity.com/app/404790/discussions/0/412448158161884844/

Godot's project manager spawns a new Godot process when you open a project, and Steam does not manage to follow the process forking on some platforms it seems (Windows?). That's something we might be able to fix in Godot 3.0, there's a pending pull request adding advanced process forking and tracking features.
ah, i see. thanks. i hope you manage it for 3.0 :)
So, funny thing, and I know this is a bit late, but if you leave the process running while it's in a project proper, turn your computer to sleep mode and then turn it back on, it detects GODOT as a process again.

Windows 10, anyway. Yeah, it's not a solution and it's just trivia, but it's reproducible and I thought it was neat.

Edit: Another found way to force it to log hours is to just launch the project, then set Steam to offline then back to online with it still open. You'll have to do this each time you launch a new project, though.

Good enough for me! Thanks dude
The problem still exists in Godot 3.0
I have 25 minutes registered on Godot 3.0 although i've used it many hours, i'd like to keep track of my usage time of this great software Devs! :DSTpigman:
Only issue I really see from this is people wanting to leave reviews have to keep it at the project list for ten minutes or so before they will be able to leave a review.

I don't use the Steam version but I wanted to leave a review which required leaving it running at the project list for ~20 minutes before it'd let me.
It's not an issue just because of reviews. It's also a social issue. It's nice to see what your friends are up to, and vice versa, handy when they can see what you're doing. I have many steam friends that are interested in game design, and it's often a conversation starter when they get curious about what I may be working on. It helps motivate people to want to work on their own projects when they see steam friends in something like Godot, and also interests them in giving Godot a try.

Is Steam Logging and Steam Overlay required for Godot to work properly? Of course not. But does it have a trickle down effect on the community? Totally. Not to mention it'd be nice to see just how much time I've spent in Godot in any given week or 2.
Running, not running
Ok, godot seems to be running only if project selector is up. Once I'm in editor, steam reports godot not running.

Could you make it please Steam report I'm in godot even if I'm in the editor?
Yeah, this seems to be an issue on Windows with how Godot switches from the project manager to the editor. It's been brought up before, and a dev said that they're looking into finding a workaround (other than doing all your Godot work under Linux!).
