Godot Engine

Godot Engine

Godot shortcut not showing up in Steam - Need Tech.Supp.
I've installed Godot, but the icon does not display in my games list or software list.
I did add the shortcut, by browsing to the exe file. But when I boot up the software, steam shows that I am in a non-steam application.

You don't have to add steam applications. If you installed Godot from outside of Steam - then yes - it is a non-steam application.

I "purchased" Godot within the Steam console (Windows pc)

Okay - but Godot is free, so when you have free "purchases" on Steam they won't appear in your Steam Library unless they are currently installed via Steam Client. So, if you installed Godot from outside of your Steam Client, your Steam Client won't know about the installation. Then when you pointed your executable binary for Godot within your Steam Client, it saw that as a non-Steam application because it didn't have a way to register the appid.

tl;dr: Just click the Play/Install button here.

No, I did install Godot through the Steam Client. This is why I am posting this concern. It's simply not showing up on my list.
Right now, I am using the store page to click and start it up.

Sounds like your Steam Client is bugged then. It gets listed under Software once you install it via Client.
Did you change your library setting from "games" to "Software"?

No, everything is default. I am on windows 7
In the steam client you need to make sure you're viewing the software library, not the games library. Godot only shows up in the former, not the latter.

If you installed through the steam client, it's there, you're probably just not looking in the right place. You do *not* have to add it beyond simply installing it via the steam client.

Not True.
Here is a screen shot of my list of games and software.

and here is a screenshot of the store page of Godot.

Hope this helps solve the problem.

That is a user-generated category. You are in-fact looking at your Games collection.

Hover or Click your mouse on the giant, glowing Library button and a dropdown will appear. From this list, pick "Software". You'll know you are looking at the right selection because on the right-side of the Search box it will change to "SOFTWARE" instead of "GAMES" as it shows in your screenshot.

I did manage to get it to display, but I'm still very confused.
Because other softwares are being displayed, but not Godot.

What are you talking about, when you switch to Software it very clearly lists:
  • AppGameKit Demo
  • GameMaker Demo
  • Godot Engine

It's on-screen 0:06 seconds into your screencapture. To be honest, I'm starting to wonder if you are just trying to troll us.

It will NEVER be on that List you flip back to at 0:17 because Godot is not listed on Steam as a game. AppGameKit Demo is on that list because it is classified as a Game on Steam and you've confusingly placed it under a category titled "Software" under your Games Library that you keep expecting to see Godot listed in.

Not trolling - I wouldn't go through the effort of all this.
so you're telling me I made the "Software" category and that's not a default list?
I seem to not be able to delete it though.

Just right-click on AppGameKit Demo and "Set Categories" - simply unmark "Software" from the alphabetical list.

I'm pretty sure "Software" is a default name list. I can't delete it.
