Hello shortcake!
People with closed beta access will be able to play the game during the next beta weekend, but will have to purchase the game at launch. As Fox mentioned, beta testers will get a free deck.
Thanks for reaching out on our website. Please send an email to our community manager and he'll follow up.
If someone activates a Humble E3 beta key, what happens after it expires? Does it expire "silently", or will Steam users be greeted by the infamous "fraud/payment error" red revocation box, a la the Sunless Sea incident? I think I'll wait for an official reply before I even think of activating this.
As far as I'm aware, these keys activate the beta version, whereas there will be a final release version that is considered separate of what's activated with these keys.
I will, however, forward this question to my team and find out what caused the Sunless Sea error you've mentioned.
Any details on the price range you'll be targeting on launch?
My question is; Will these beta keys be "brute" revoked by you guys, or will the game simply and silently -without user interaction- vanish from people's libraries?
What happened with SS was illegal and outrageous. The point there was that thousands, or perhaps even tens of thousands of legitimate HB customers had the game revoked by Valve at the request of the developer. (The developer sent the incorrect keys to HB and instead of accepting their mistake, revoked the keys.) When the keys were mass revoked, Steam users who activated the key had the game removed from their library and were greeted with the same revocation process as if they committed fraud - an ominous red box you have to "accept" before it goes away.
These beta codes are specific to the beta build. We will be generating new codes that are tied to the release version of this game (not what's currently live as our beta). I've escalated this question to the rest of the team to confirm - but the intent is to not "brute revoke" access. The beta should disappear from libraries once beta goes down.
on one side i understand it, because it is in the humblebundle and with this it would give some people the game for a way cheaper price.
also the developer need to buy them self (and their families) food.
on the other site...i'm a part of the QA-Tester when i'm playing the Beta BUT i pay for it!
and other developers are giving the full version free to beta tester.
the point that makes me sad:
what's the point of the "free" extra content?
i mean with this system i still need to buy the game so the "free" extra content isn't actually free because i payed with the beta for it...it's more like an exclusive dlc.
edit:
to come back again to your comment.
i was just a few clicks away from buying this game 2 times more, so i can play with my friends.
but i had the luck to find this thread.
I don't follow. By all means, we want testers to feel like they've gotten a chance to check out the game early and we get to fix any bugs that are found.
Once beta is over, that version will go away and the game will launch in July. We hope that you give the beta a try - but if you don't, maybe you'll check it out when we launch.
Hello WrIgHt auf Ganovenjagd
In the case of being in this bundle - we've provided these beta keys so players can get a chance to check out our game early. We'd like people to play the beta so we can improve the game and experience when we launch late next month.
The DLC code that comes in the bundle is simply that - DLC that you get for buying this bundle (along with all the other awesome games and content) is just that: content that you'll have access to because of this bundle. This IS exclusive content only available for a limited time.
I'd like to note one thing: all proceeds from this bundle are outlined at the bottom of the page (please feel free to go back and check). The money goes to these places: ESA Foundation, Twitch, or Humble. We don't get that money, we wanted to get our beta out to players who would like to play it and we'd like to see how the we can make Superfight better.
With that said - I wish you the best of luck! I'm sorry you feel that way! Hopefully you'll come back and check out the game or at least watch it on Twitch when the beta happens.
Thanks!
Amor
to make it more clear:
the point ISN'T that i don't want to pay something to you.
it's just that i nearly buyed the bundle 2 times more just because of this game that is gone in the future (as a student i don't earn enough money so i can carelessly buy things).
in other words: i feelt that way because i was caught by this fun looking game but nothing told me that it is just for a limited time.
it sounds hard but it's a little bit like i was betrayed.
