[Quest Oversight?] Pistol Pete - Hates You Even if You Helped Him *SPOILERS*

[BOYCOTT S-T-E-A-M!]

Pistol Pete asks you to help him by freeing Rodia from the Leather Jerks that took it over.

Unforunately, if you saved them by pretending to aid Mr. Dengler as a way to sabotage him from the inside... Pistol Pete will hate you after the town is free.

I saved the town from sickness. I aided all the townspeople with their problems. I helped the townspeople incapacitate some of the lead Leather Jerks.

I played along with Mr. Dengler acting as if I was aiding him solely to get some proof for Dante that Beatrice was evil.

I made sure to be nice to Jess when asked to force her to grow agave. I sweet talked her into playing along for me and even paid the fee for the agave myself.

I got the recipe for Dengler without any violence and then I brought Dante along to see Beatrices true nature.

After that I freed the mayor, took out Dengler and his lackeys, and the town was once again free and happy. Well... except for Pistol Pete who hates my guts.

Pistol Pete was recruited but then left at Santa Fe when he requested help. Somehow he just "knows" that I worked with Dengler and despite me not actually helping Dengler at all and instead using it as a way to fully, and mostly peacefully, free and save his poor town of Rodia... he still completely hates me and will leave chew me out and leave if I ever speak to him again at Santa Fe.

this game is bugged and filled with script plotholes, i saved rodia by shooting the jerks and in the endscreen said that pistol pete wife was dead

Yeah. Thats why I posted this. So that the devs, like Sear who sometimes pops up on the forums, can see it an hopefully it will be able to be addressed.

2020 and still not fixed. You basically lose a follower by completing the quest to help them.

I think this is not the thing that needs to be fixed. It all works the way it supposed to work.
You just get rid of the Jerks. Then Beatrice leaves the town. Because of her leaving Dante decides that she only needed his money, not him. So you don't have "to sabotage the Jerks from the inside" to solve this problem. Well... of course you kill them in the end (even after working for them), but Pete is upset just because of thought that you was just able to consider such thing as working for Dengler. So it makes sense. In either ways of solving the problem you loose not really much: Pete is not a person you are desperately looking for; and experience for Dengler's quests is not a big deal - you can kill some Jerks (or whoever) in random encounters. On the other hand if you'd like to see more content of the game (during the same walkthrough) you'd probably like to work for Dengler.
