Damonta, Silo 7 and Tank Treads.(Spoilers)
When the crazy bomb cult leader sent me to Silo 7 I figured that i would get the tank treads later on when i finish the quest and talk to him again. To my surprise the entire place got blown up. What I want to know is, is it possible to get the Tank Treads now that Damonta is destroyed? Or will I have to return to an earlier save?

Damonta was destroyed? Blown up? I thought the place that would get blown up would be Canyon of Titan and the temple there.

The npcs left said and I quote "The entire area is left a crater" So then how can Damonta still be around then when that was the path to Damonta that got destroyed? Or am I missing something?

I don't know if you're missing something, because my Rangers did the sensible thing and defused that nuke. Which doomed the Canyon of Titan and the Temple of Titan. Similar to what I heard happens if you let the mad monks have the nuke. Damonta is an entirely different location on the map, so I assumed it would still be available. You must have passed in when going between the temple and Silo 7. Just because the canyon into the valley is a crater doesn't mean that locations inside the valley have to be blown up, so you could just go back into the valley and see if you can enter Damonta. I mean, that's where your Rangers would've come from when returning to the temple from Silo 7, right?

You're just missing something.

Grossly, GROSSLY missing something.

Damonta is accessed by PASSING THROUGH the Canyon of Titan, but it's on completely separate regions of the map. They're their own locations. However, CoT is ONLY a barrier preventing you from moving forward UNTIL you reach the other side for the first time. From that point on you just walk past it on the world map like any other location. The moment you exit the back side of the Temple of Titan, you never have to visit the Cot or ToT maps ever again.

Damonta doesn't get nuked. Ever. It DOES get wiped out by the robots if you enter the map, and exit the map without killing EVERY robot. So if you want to save the people of Damonta, once you enter the town, you're on an exterminating mission, and you CANNOT LEAVE until you complete it.

But the tank treads? Those are just an item from a loot container. You don't need to save anyone to get the tank treads. You'll need to beat Tinker because she's next to the box containing it, but other than that, all you "need" to do is open the box and grab what's inside.

But-but-but... YOU DON'T NEED THE TANK TREADS AT ALL!!! There are 2 ways into the Prison, and the tank tread is the way if you want to go in guns blazing. So all this worry and consternation that you cannot move forward is for naught, because you're fine.

IF some NPC told you that DAMONTA was left a crater, I'm sure they were being dramatic. The CANYON is actually left a crater if you send the monks the nuke. I think you're getting events and objectives and locations confused.

Explain how do i get into the prison without the Treads?

you go to the prison, and talk to the guy who poisoned the dogs for the dog cure, then you talk to the guy who is in charge of the prison saying you have a cure, let me in to cure the dogs.

then you go in, and either shoot everyone and cure the dogs or cure the dogs and talk it out. or shoot everyone.

After you've hooked up the Damonta radio tower with your repeater unit, and you're headed back to Ranger Citadel, there will be some plot development where you'll have the opportunity to talk your way inside the prison in order to cure the dogs they have in there.

So that'll be a peaceful way of getting inside, and if you really have the cure, you can gain the Animal Whisperer skill book in exchange for a toaster item from Damonta (I think). After that little exchange I started killing the Red Skorpion Militia because they're terrible excuses for human beings.

Using the tank treads will be interpreted as an attack and result in a fight from the start. But hey, if you don't want that skill book, or XP from talking your way inside (with or without the cure), then you might as well do that.
