What should I take to LA
So I'm thinking medical supplies, ammunition and heavy weapons. Am I missing anything?

7.62 mm and Sabot Rockets, both purchased from Holliday at a discount. That's what I brought. You could also use ~10K scrap on buying new armours and weapons when you return to Santa Fe Springs, but it seems like a lot of that can be found fairly quickly without fighting, so I guess it would feel a little more rewarding to instead spend all that scrap on even more ammo and rockets... that I may end up never using? Hm... so hard to know what unnecessities to spend my abundance of scrap on!

You can bring three extra companions and anything in your ranger crate from the citadel, so you have no limit of supplies. As for gear, you will start finding new stuff fairly quickly, although you definitely should bring your best gear and plenty of ammo. Medical kits will start upscaling, so loading up on the cheap ones might be a bad idea if your rangers have low carry capacity.

Haha. I just literally found out this second that my storage crate mystically transports to LA and is waiting for me.

You have no idea what I just went through. I had all my men literally packed to rim with gear. All walking real slow with the max amount of gear they could carry before they refused to move. Hahaha. I can't believe it.

As for the 3 extra companions, I thought about filling them up but once you dismiss them all there gear gets loaded on my leader. So i can't use them as mules unless they are in my actual group.

ANyone know if i can get a new rat from that statue in rail nomads. Mine died and the extra 1 intelligence it gave was pretty good. Im hoping its not 1 use only

It is. Most bonuses in this game are very limited. You can't reasonably expect to keep a 15hp aggressive rat alive through much of the game when you get stray bullets or explosives bouncing around, so it's mostly just for the running around quest xp you can get in rail nomads

yeah, and same thing with vax. Once he dies, it's rip. You can't repair his scrap parts or get a new one

The rat is kind of pointless though, as the main benefit of Intelligence is +1 skill point at certain break points, and that only counts base Intelligence, not Intelligence boosted with bonuses. But I guess that +1 Intelligence could lead to +1 AP, especially when combined with +1 Strength or +1 Speed, either from some other animal or from a trinket.

But stationary, non-hostile animals are really the way to go. I had Ralphy whisper a unique possum with 1 health (so seemingly non-hostile), which then kept moving towards the enemies, one tile every turn. Eventually it got close enough that the last enemy standing decided to shoot that possum. RIP.

Explosives to make up for your sub-par weaponry in the initial encouters, and money with which to then upgrade your equipment. At least $5000, preferable 10k, or you'll be severely outgunned, even with the most powerful weapons available in AZ.

I've found a couple of unused ones. At least one of them before heading to California. They're still 'junk' though, so I don't know if they actually protect against anything.
