pretty sure sony requires voice acting to let the game be on consoles. consolers not being able to read or something.
Personally

Bad voice acting is what makes classic games classic.

I was more upset that the game has an intro video.
but the middle of the game is a TEXT to get LA, and the end of the game is also text.
Would have rather had an video there as well.
I don't care for it when the production values drop off after the first few hours.
If you really dislike the voice over's just turn them down in the audio settings... VO to off... *fixed*
totally saved the game for me.... ok no it doesn't because I already uninstalled... but that might have changed everything at the time !
I'll have to keep a look out for that option in the future...
For what it's worth man, reinstall it.. The game is flipping epic, VO's asside... I'm loving the story, the gameplay mechanics etc... I'd give it one more shot, with those pesky VO's set to OFF... Also to liven the game up, I'm not sure you knew you can import portraits. The few that are inlcuded in game are ok, but there are sites you can download portrait packs with Hundreds of them to chose from. IMO It gives your Ranger's that much more life and character...
From the post I read I'm not sure how far you progressed in the game. But if you only reached Rail Nomad Camp, you only scratched the surface.. Also there have been a multitude of updates, and now the game is what I'd like to refer to as a Finely Polished Gem...
And don't sweat about not knowing about the VO setting, not everyone looks at all the available settings in options. But a few you might want to look at if you do play again are, the VO setting mentioned, and the AUTO use Highest ability.. *This one here drove me mad before I knew it could be toggled* - No Angela I don't want you busting that wall down, I want MY character doing it etc... This fixes that... :)
With that said, I also wish to emphasise on SAVING YOUR GAME OFTEN. Use the automatic save built in as well.. I saved like a madman, and also had the automatic save option save the game every 15 minutes. It had saved my game more than once.
I hope this has been useful, and has in someway helped. Have a great day! :)
P.S
LOL @ Ralphie, I hear ya.. I left him in the Citadel and his main duty was Toaster Repair... Rot in the Mess Hall BOY!
So when someone comes and totally wrecks your fantasy with the worse voice acting youve ever heard in your life, it felt pretty much game-brealnig.
I played up to some part in the second half, but felt there was too much running around and I didn't feel like completing some tedious chore that i had to do for the quest.
I hope wasteland 2 is a better .... but from what I saw on youtube, they're going to turn it into Shrek . ...............god but the old fallout dialogue screens were good enough....... Pillars of eternity is doing it with success.... why can't wasteland make the right game decisions....
But I don't mind Ralphy's voice. He sounds funny. (Yep, that's how he talks.)
I didn't much like Pizepi Joren's voice though, who sounded like a female version of Ralphy in her introduction (and I haven't brought her along after recruiting her). She sounded way too much like Jessie, who sounded like quite the child. Which seemed appropriate enough, but not something I'd want to listen to. Rose and Scotchmo are great though. Haven't really had any problems with the voice acting in general, except the two very different voices for Angela Deth.
