Moon Symbols

I can't figure out what the waxing/waning moon symbols are for. There are like 4 or 5 of them. They look like big round doors in the ground and there's a disc near the top that looks like something should be inserted. I finished the game but never figured out how to interact with any of them.

On the map, the symbols for these areas show different phases of a moon.

I don't even know what you're referring to -- but if you can't interact with them, chances are you're not meant to interact with them and it's just a graphical something.

Maybe it was meant to be part of the story... and when they scrapped the story they left those things in the game anyway.

In the picture with the map, you can see the moon shape near the red dot. There's another one at the top right of the map with the moon shape facing a different direction. They just just seem too obvious to be basically nothing. And, yeah, I agree that if that's the case, it was probably something that got scrapped.

Edit: I was looking through an achievements guide and these never come up, so I guess they don't do anything. Usually in games like this, details like that are somehow important. Especially since these things appear to have sockets in them. I just assume I'll eventually find something that goes in there.

I'm pretty sure those are just decorations on the floor. The first picture looks like it is just meant to be a central decoration and possibly the source of the wire? going south, and the second one is just a round decoration in a round building.

Yeah, I see what you are saying. There are four of these shapes in the game, with the crescent moon shape facing different directions. I don't think it just has to do with how the energy flows since the second one doesn't involve those same energy nodes.

In the end though, it is pretty clearly just a decoration.

The map is super-bad and confusing, wasted so much time cuz of that.
