Local coop?
HI there, is there a chance this game will get local coop ("shared screen") multiplayer after launch?
I think this game has a great potential as a coop game and would bring a lot customers (me, for example) who love to play local mp on PC while the Steam library realy lacks games with this feature...
The game looks great nevertheless, but still... this feature would make it no-brainer

Double this! Will buy for sure if it has local co-op or at least have high possibility of it being implemented in nearest future.

Hello SamcoSVK.
Currently we are completely focused on releasing the game. What will come after the release we simply cannot say or tell so far. So I will surely forward your suggestion/idea, as I did before already, but cannot make any promises.
-cheers

Also from my side: Local coop would be awesome! I just bought a Steam Link and a second controller, so if the game had local coop, I could play it on the sofa together with my girlfriend. :steamhappy:

I completely understand that you can't make any promises, but it's like Samco said: There are not many titles with that feature, so this would really be a big plus for Vikings.

In fact I think due to the fact that the game offers 2 player coop only, it is a perfect local coop candidate. So please keep forwarding the request to the devs and convince them how much the game and its acceptance would benefit from it.

By the way, Unerde, I think you're doing an excellent job with your community work here in the Steam forums. Thanks for all your support!

Why did you guys drop local Coop/splitscreen coop anyway? In the early previews of the game this was mentioned. Like the guy above, I want to play the game with my wife on the sofa and have a good time. I mean we could go to our rooms and play it Online Coop, but where is the fun in this when you live together anyway?

They did not. People were confusing Local Co-op (=Co-op over LAN) feature with Shared/Split Screen multiplayer so devs removed the former tag (it never had the later one).

To sum up steam feature tags and their meaning:

  • Single-player - one player, self-explaining
  • Multi-player - Used for all types of multiplayers. More detailed below
  • Online Multi-Player - internet connection required for all players in order to play.
  • Local Multi-Player - offline multi-player via LAN.
  • Co-op - Used for all types of Co-op. More detailed below
  • Online Co-op - internet connection required for all players in order to play.
  • Local Co-op - offline possible. Connection via Lan required.
  • Shared/Split Screen - offline and on only one machine possible.
  • Cross-Platform Multiplayer - possible for players to play against e.g. console players in online multiplayer.

If you feel you easily confuse the meaning of the tags, suggest Steam support that they change/clarify them. Game developers can only assign or not assign them to their games.
