Voxel Turf
How does this game not have a bigger playerbase?
I am honestly addicted, Aside from low graphical quality (probably related to just low experience with making decals) this game is incredibly fun, and i notice updates on pretty much a daily basis which makes this one of the most active devs i have seen in a VERY long time, with a lot more work i can see this game being very popular, in fact im kinda surprised it isnt already. A lot of fun for only $8 :sweetdog: holy hell its been a week and people are still at it

Dare I say it, it feels like a "complete" EA title that we got at a discount for lack of a better term, only the dev has been great at keeping his playerbase abreast of what is being worked on, as well as taking suggestions.
This is easily one of the best early access games I've played.

I believe dev said it's technically not EA but he still plans to do tons of work on it.

Either way I agree about it being one of the best I ever played too.

its nice to see that people do seem genuinely fond of this game, im sure it will eventually get at least a good portion of the attention it deserves, not only that but lately this seems like one of the few devs who actually cares instead of either just abandoning their stuff entirely or just milking as much money from their games as possible.

No, it isn't EA. But I think that's why the price is what it was, yet he still wants to work at it. EA has a bad reputation nowadays, for better or worse.

Absolutely, it's one of the better EA games out there.

Game still needs some tweaking though, and a bit more content.
I don't see the game being in Early Access, for me it's "Released". I know it still being worked on, but maybe in some players's mind, they see an uncomplete ungly game, and they don't want to invest ?

I suspect for two reasons.

One, it looks like minecraft, and people are a bit ut off from minecraft since the market was so heavily staurated.

The second is the price. People who see a game at a price of 8 dollars immediately think that price has to do with quality which really isn't the case.

I'll give you a small example.

I could go, and take two cat poo's of the same size, and coat them in 24 karat gold. Then put them in a window display, and charge $3500.00 dollars for the cat poo on the left, and the one on the right charge $14.99.

I bet you dollars to donuts I would sell more $3500.00 than the $14.99 cat poo even though they are identical because in the minds of those folks price determines quality.
It's already been done as a analogy with a chocolate cake experiment, where one cake is 10 dollars and another is 50. People would say the 50 dollar cake tastes better. They both came from the same slice of cake.

When I first saw this game, I almost didn't buy it. It looked too much like minecraft. I think voxel-based builder games these days need to try to not look like minecraft because the novelty of that asthetic has worn off. Now we need something looking better than that. I've already suggested that the character models need to be changed to something more unique and the dev seems to be willing to do it. I think this is a game development worth following. Perhaps when we get better character models and gun models that aren't just made out of legos, it might be worth streaming.

It is something to see isn't it.

People over the years been programmed to think this way. I never fell for it but so many people do think this way, and they don't erven realize that they have been manipulated.

This could very well be true but any gamer worth their salt knows that graphics doesn't make a game, it's gameplay, and this game has it in spades.

You are most likely right though, people look at it, and can't get passed the look of the game.

There is another game I play from time to time, and it's called Portal Knights, and the graphics are top of the line, but it's a voxel game, and the people who do play it support it simply because it has some very nice gameplay, but again people can't seem to get passed voxel.

In my personal opinion, minecraft (although a pretty decent game at the time) has poisoned the gaming industry simply because of how badly it saturated the market with "Minecraft this, and minecraft that".

Same goes for Zombie games. I am so sick of them that even the mention of zombies in any game makes me pass on it without giving the game a second thought.

Same goes for all industries, take the movie industry, I am so sick to death Starwars. I am a hugh fan of the original theatrical version of the movie, but now it's Starwars this, and sstarwars that... I just won't watch anything recently made that has a starwars flavour too it.

Sick to death of it.

Thing with voxels is, (though I could be wrong myself) I don't think a lot of people realize how difficult it is to actually make voxel games where the voxels are actualy realisitc gemoetric shapes. Every single block in the entire game world has to be able to be terraformed, have light and shadows casted on it, and if the game has it, follow the game's rules of gravity. It's a far cry from this game or Minecraft as opposed to something like...7 Days to Die, and that game has troubles with it's graphics engine once in a while.

Absolutely, but I don't think people think about how hard it is to do anything from a development standpoint when purchasing any game. For me, I normally will pass on anything that looks like minecraft.

They see what it looks like, maybe watch a video trailer, maybe pass on the video, and read the reviews, or they do none of that, and simply see, and think "Oh God not another minecraft game".

For myself, i thought exactly that, I hate Minecraft, and when I saw that it was a voxel game I passed on it immediately, and if it wasn't for my friend john, I would never have purchased two copies, and played the game which is now one of my most favorite games in my library.
