Can't type numbers on laptop (Linux Mint)

I am running Linux Mint on a 64-bit HP630 laptop, and I have just noticed that I can't type numbers using the second row of my keyboard. I have a Czech layout which requires me to hold Shift+(key) to write numbers. Not that it's a big problem, the only time I need to write numbers is in Bank.
EDIT: When I connect a USB keyboard with dedicated numpad, it works

Does the Czech number input for the USB keyboard work? If not, it may be because es doesn't support that type of keyboard input

nope, only the dedicated numpad

Without reviewing the code, I'd speculate that this is due to the shift state. From what I recall, the game doesn't check locale, relying on the sdl library for input
