Depending on the sector, pirates will get attacked by the Navy or other law enforcement. Landing on a planet will make all NPC ships in the sector go away, the game doesn't keep track of which ships were around before you landed.

My guess is you're either in a sector controlled by pirates, where they will constantly spawn, or your piracy rating is high so you keep attracting new pirates.

I find that high powered laser turrets tend to do a good job of removing them.

Are they following you through a jump? Because those are mission ships, and you will have to deal with those according to said mission.

Ah! But!
Stories and quest chains also use the mission system, and can give you "invisible" missions. Spaceport encounters can also give you "invisible" missions. I know that most pirates don't appreciate you winning in poker.
ooo there is poker in the game???
I saw a trader talking how he blew his wealth in a casino
where are those casinos and poker????

It's just a random space port encounter you can have on pirate planets. Just a little story, sometimes with a choice.
But there is, indeed, no real poker in this game.

haha.. this thread... stick to paradise planets my friend.... good luck. HAHA.
You're not having too much cargo space and not enough weapons right? When you click I it opens your personal menu thing, on the left it has a piracy risk.

65 cargo tons, 0 weapons, it's meta build tbh

Meta as prey more like. No guns = game spawns pirates on you in human space.
But maybe I'm misunderstanding, the game tells you your piracy risk when you click I.

Nah there are barely any pirates and just land on a planet or go next galaxy
And if they catch you, reload save

65 cargo space isn't enough to trigger targeted pirate spawns with no defences; you need about 100 to start getting them.
