How do I complete this mission? [SPOILER]
I'm trying to complete a mission in the main story line where I have to liberate Delta Capricorni, but there are too many ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Pugs and even on a Shield Beetle I can't complete the mission. I can't bring in an escort because I don't have any extra jump drives. What do I do?

You should have an autosave that'll bring you to right when you get your full escort fleet. Keeping that alive is a big priority. And if that's not working out, you can repeatedly takeoff and land in any system you're fighting Pug, in which your escorts will whittle down the Pug each time, while taking no losses themselves as long as you're quick enough. With some missions, the Pug fleet will be split between a force that stays in the system, and one that follows you, so you could jump away to a different system and pick off that part of the fleet, as well.
I got a Shield Beetle a day or two after I posted this, and replaced the old screenshot link with a newer screenshot showing my new ship's specs, and I have 8 Typhoon Launchers on my ship, yet I still can't ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ get through the first mission. One thing to note here is that I first did this with a Leviathan, which is much weaker than my current ship, and I managed to get through the Pug missions up to the mission where I had to liberate Shiver, but it was too hard so I decided to roll back to a save before I attacked the Pug, and got a Dreadnought, but for some reason I couldn't even get through the first mission, then I decided to visit the Hai and I got a Shield Beetle, but even then I'm still somehow ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stuck on the first mission even though my ship is better than the Leviathan I used to have in every single way. Any explanation on why it is harder now than it used to be, and tips on getting through the first mission?

one tactic you could try is flee the center of the system until they stop following then lure them one by one to where you are by staying close to the line where the ennemy ships returns to the center/stop following you

Now that you have a Jump Drive you can farm more from Kor Ak'mari which is jump accessible from Sheritan, and only has Korath Raiders. Snag one or two and then equip them onto heavy warships equipped with Ion Cannons (if you have encountered Hai already) and then return for even easier hunting. You can quickly gather many Jump Drives and build a fleet to hammer the Pug with.

Kor Ak'Mari. That's a fine fishing hole there. Thanks for the tip.

Why do you not have jump drives? Unless I'm scrambling things in my memory, isn't this the part of the storyline where you've recently been given a small escort fleet of jump-drive-equipped warships?

If those escorts died, you may want to rewind...or, as others have suggested, farm Korath drives and build your own jump fleet.

I recommend the jump drive farming. Its good money and you will eventually want a large number of them; in my book an endgame fleet is at least 15 good capital ships. Get out in front of this as from here on the fights don't get much easier and JD are required to access well over half the map.
bruh i stopped playing this game a while ago and now people are replying to this necro almost a year laterrrrrr

The reason people are seeing this old post is that it's the top google result if you search for the "delta capricorni" fight.

I combined some of the information in this thread and discovered that you can use one ship (doesn't even need weapons, just cargo space) with a jump drive plus the escorts you are given and just go to Alderamin, which is one star system away from Delta Capricorni, and farm Pug Zibruka ships for jump drives, which lets you bring in more ships and farm more of them, etc.
