Star Queen outfit for pirating
So, I read this is a pretty good ship for pirating due to crew size. I maxed it out with max expansions, and added some crew bunks and headed to hai space. I quickly discovered the 150 missiles aren't really enough to take down any decent prize.

What have you guys found to be the best outfit for it? I swapped out my generator for a Hai green, and think I may add another when I get some more cash.

Are you trying to take down Shield Beetles with a lone Star Queen? I can't imagine that working out very well.

Well, first of all are you actually pirating, or are you being a scavenger?
Pirates attack innocents.
Scavengers rarely attack, and wait out battles for scraps from defeated pirate factions.

Generally using the Star Queen with a lot of men can get you a great ship to keep or sell, if you also have weapons for them. Star Queen is a great ship, and the first ship I enterred Hai space in.

I'm pirating. Not trying to take on beetles, but have issues with anything more than interceptors. What weapons outfit do you recommend? I actually made enough money pretty quick to go buy a shield beetle....and this thing is so tank im worried it will spoil the game haha.

How I usually pirate is set my behemoth or star queen as my flag ship (depending if i'm going for pricey components or capture) then pick maybe 3-4 of my light warships or warships to follow it.
The rest of my fleet gets parked on a planet. Head off to desired system to pirate in, set up board, loot or steal, land sell off my stolen goods repeat.

Warships do the work, flagship boards and captures after minorly contributing to the battle.

You will find yourself with a rather large fleet sooner or later that you will want to park somewhere while you pirate as once you get more than 3-4 warship escorts they have a tendancy to accidently blow up what you are trying to board while trying to shoot something else.

umm weaponry in general for pirating things like ion cannons are great. anything that drains energy or causes ships to overheat seem to be good for pirate activities.

For starting "warships" I still have my Mule in my fleet, doesn't seem to want to die ever. Low crew requirement (9 minimum) will keep fleet costs down while you pirate and build up, the cargo hold will allow you start stealing fusion reactors and then you don't have to worry about money ever again. Again, Star Queen for siezing large prize ships that you wouldn't be able to take w/ the regular heavy warships, converted cargoships for siezing heavy expensive reactors. Make sure you have a bankroll ready for paying death benefits once you use the star queen to take large warships w/ large crews.

That is a good tactic all'n'all..... A suggestion for boarding and taking ships are bactrians cuz' they have over 400 crews, but bactrians cost over 19 million credits...

Ah makes sense. I had been leaving my fleet out of the fights because they seem to over kill stuff, or get quickly swarmed and destroyed.

Oh man if I wasn't in the middle of the Free Worlds storyline this is sooo what I would be doing. I long for the ability to buy the Deep's vessels and ramscoops during my current game.
