Endless sky - how to shoot

ive been playing endless skys for a while and i cant figure out how to shoot, i know how to board but not to get the ship low enough to do that. help?

Default is tab for primary, q for secondary.

For more advanced techniques, try installing another secondary. Pressing W swaps between these. You can also even put weapons in specific slotting by pressing "i" and simply sliding them from weapon port to weapon port using the picture below. This way you can have your lasers on the left side, and missiles or rockets on the right or many other combinations.
