Anyone captured Sol/Aldebaran?
I tried to capture Sol first but felt that I go capture other systems first... Then I come across Aldebaran which doesn't seem to be any easier than Sol. I've killed hunders of Republic ships and many of them has been Carriers. But it seems that new ones just keep coming no matter how many I kill. I can't tank them near the planet though because of their insane amount of missiles so I have to go to the edge where they stop following and kill them there. Could my wussy tactic bug it?

I managed to do it, but the amount of ships they send is completely absurd. I lost 2 or 3 of my ships despite them being very well equipped. Staying away from the spawn location and trying to take them out efficiently without getting overwhelmed is probably the best strategy.

Not 100% sure but I think the problem is not the ones which spawn from the planet but the ones which keep warping to the system because they seem to be warping in all the time. Again, this is just a guess but feels as long as you kill all the ships from the planet as fast as possible and don't let them get mixed with the ones which warp in, you might be able to do it. But when there is hundred ships which you dont need to kill to take all the shots from you, killing the right ships might take a while.

Actually, if I recall correctly, the dev said on the github forums that the ships that warp in count as defenders too unfortunately. It makes things drastically harder, especially on a system like sol.

Hmm.. Ok. Though, it's weird that I definitely didn't kill all the hostile ships from an easier system (still spawning many carriers which could easily take some of my bactrians when focusing fire). I just killed the ones that I thought were from the planet, demanded tribute, and they surrendered. Had to even warp out because it was not safe there.

I thought about it more, and I too have definitely seen that happen. I must be misremembering the post.
Regardless, picking out specific ships from sol's defense fleet would be enormously difficult given the sheer amount of them, but it would reduce the amount of ships you need to kill.

I´m still not at a level to overcome sol, but I´ve beated other big planets with 20 battleships.equip your ships with enough Hai´s missiles and quarg anti-missile turrets and you can do it. I think that If I double my fleet sol will fall with no problems

I just did it with 24 ships, also 36 fighters and about 20 drones. I lost a total of 5 of my bigger ships and all of my fighters and drones during the assault, ( this was not worth it), I took mars and luna as well. I basically had to retreat all of my ships way out into space and let them waste their missiles against me (all of my ships have quarg anti missle defenses and one quarg skylance). I would then make a series of rushes near them with my ships constantly gathering around me which would thin their ranks until they were weak enough to commmit. that is pretty much the best way I've discovered to fight that ridiculous fleet from earth.

Yeah, I had 11 bactrians each equiped with two quarg skylances, one korath warder and one korath grab-strike.. I had to wait till they wasted most of their missiles so my korath warders could focus on torpedoes. Then I just went close enough for my skylances to tear them apart, and killed them ALOT but they just seemed to be a never ending stream. :) Missiles would probably be an easy way to do as long as you bring a big enough fleet, because then you could just sit out of range and make steady damage to them (ofcourse you might run out of missiles, dunno :D ). But I'm not a missile guy so I probably try to tinker with some other ship fits first. Was thinking of building a fleet of 20 shield beetles, each with one skylance and some anti missiles and see how much shield recharge I can fit into them. And then compare it to a bactrian with one skylance and think does it make sense to have bigger buffer or more recharge. Anyway, thanks for letting me know it can be done. I was already starting to think I got trolled by the game. Spending hours to trying to conquer a system even when it's not possible. :)

they have anti-missile turrets as well so missiles regardless of the size of the fleet would run out well before their defenses were destroyed mainly because all of your ships would fire all of their missiles at the same ships because unfortunately you can't control that yet.

unless you use the pug missile turrets(the ones with unlimited ammo) but I was only able to get a hold of two of them and have no Idea how or when I will be able to get more do the the pug completely dissappearing.

I have found a way to carry this without spending a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of time looting alien ships
-buy 600 wasps in luna
-equip them with 2 meteor missile lauchers and 1 blaster each (use sift to outfit as many ships as you want)
this and 20-30 really good warships should do the job. last time I tried with 24 warships and 500 wasps we ended up with mutual destruction, so it can be done with a little more
note: beware of lag and death beneficts

Well, I made twenty shield beetles with
2xQuantum Shield Generators, 1xQuarg Skylance, 1xKorath Warder
Dunno if I was lucky, but those conquered Earth very easily without losing a single beetle.
But I loaded, because I wanted to leave the hardest encounter for later testing. :)

why a Korath Warder when you have Quarg turrets?also what kind of reactor did you use to feed all those outfits?
Sym Nov 12, 2015 @ 8:19pm
I used 27 kestrels to take it over each with 2 skylances and 1 quarg antimissile each. I used a korath tek'nel reactor and one of the quarg batteries on each to allow them to sustain them.
Killer Mango Nov 12, 2015 @ 8:31pm
what did you choose to give your kestrels? I chose to give mine extra weaponry and they are usually the first to die in my fleet. I use 4 of each carriers, bactrians, shield beetles, kestrels, dreadnaughts, cruisers and korath raiders. all outfitted with mostly quarg tech and korath generators
