Debris on ship destruction
When a ship is destroyed, it should leave a wreck or debri cloud that is transparent to weapons fire, and that you can access by using B, or with a specialized equipment.

When opened, it would be like boarding a vessle, but most of the components and cargo would be destroyed and replaced with scrap components. You might get lucky and pull an untouched weapon or engine unit out of it.

I know a lot of pirate hunters are having a bad time out there with their reward getting blown up right out from under them, hopefully this would make it less painful.

Ehhh I think this would make it too easy to get cash even is it just left behind metal or heavy metal. Good idea though.

Well, ya gotta consider that cargo haulers have an exponential money gain. The more you get, the more more you earn, the more you can buy. It gets out of hand very quickly.

With pirate hunting, it's a lot of hit and miss and scraping up whatever loose cash you can get your hands on. Even if you get several million, you can be making that much every minute with a cargo haulers.

I would absolutely support this- pirates and merchants alike always seem to duke it out until the very end, and merchants themselves tend to killsteal before I can board pirate ships. I've also lost ships to pirates- expensive ones, and I didn't get any cash back for that. I think this would be an interesting idea, and also a new concept to be implemented for AI. Maybe some sort of pirate who doesn't really like to fight, but follows destruction and picks up the leftovers?

As this would make easy money just laying around wouldn't you also have to have scavenger NPC's to make it competative? Otherwise you could just site in a high pirate area and get cash.

That was one of my concerns, but I'm not too worried.
Scrap coiuld be valuble in areas where theres practically no pirate activity, and most if not all usable salvaged equipment could be a [damaged] variant of that system, with wierd nerfed stats and a horrible market value

Yeah, I just barely took down a falcon with my ship, and ALMOST got to loot it, but then a fleet of sparrows flies in and destroys it. I almost threw my keyboard at the screen.
