failed a mission... what next?

a few days ago i failed a mission where i had to escort 4 falcons to a pirate world, destroy the pirate ships and the free world falcons would take over the planet, mission failed becuase a free world falcon got destroyed.. and i've saved my game since then. I can't find any other missions to do i have gone to every single free world controlled planet or dock and checked the spaceport but not found a mission to do.

What is there for me to do? Is editing my save possible to make that mission availible again or tell the game i passed it?

Open up your save file (under ~Users/AppData/Roaming/endless-sky/saves). Find where it describes the mission you failed and copy+paste that into a comment.

CRTL-F says this is the only instance of the word Failed in the save file.. ""fw intro escort failed""

Is that the only line of text? Nothing else?

I only ask because I haven't bothered doing any of the story. What I am used to seeing is something like this:

yeah its the only line that seems to be about failing a mission.. the mission takes place in the Graffias system but the save file only mentions that i've visited it and thats its govenment is pirate.

Try copy pasting your entire save file into another notepad as a backup. Then delete that one line of text.

deleted the line.. unfortunately i can't seem to find the mission start.. if deleteing the line has actually worked
