Auto aim wierd behaviour
So I tried auto aim, because my steering is not good ☺, but I was surprised to see that most times it aims next to the ship targetted. Not too far away but far enough to miss the spot.

I am aware that my steering engines needs to be fast enough,so I made sure do a few fights where the targetted ship is almost not moving in relation to mine... And it still miss the mark, even at close range.

I am playing on Linux (not sure if it makes a difference.) As anyone noticed the same issue?

I'm bumping this, if allowed. I have the same issue, which makes combat very difficult. It's hard to defeat an enemy that you can't hit.

Are you mixing lasers with projectile weapons?
Gomfuddle Nov 29, 2015 @ 4:56pm
Nope, lasers only. The auto aim just fixates at a point just clockwise of the ship I'm trying to target. If I press the arrow key, I can spin past it (strafe it), but will return to the original auto-aim point (clockwise of the target) as soon as I let go.
This is my experience, but I am not OP.

OP, if my issue is not as similar to yours as I think it is, let me know and I'll back out of the thread. :)

I would suggest either you or OP posting this as an issue on the Github[github.com] page, as the Steam discussion boards are crowded, and the developer checks that site more often than he does with the Steam boards. Word to the wise, OP- you posted in General Discussions, not Bug Reporting, and this almost certainly sounds like a bug. Not to nitpick, but please post in bugs so that people are at least aware of the problem.

Hi all, I left it as it is, because I eventually found that I could not reproduce it any more. Meaning, I didn't have that issue anymore.

I also experienced that when the auto aim homes onto the target, I better not influence it by touching any direction key at all (in fact I don't use thrusters much when it's homing in order not to disturb the auto aim). It's been hitting successfully when I leave it alone. I don't know if you have my experience there.

Auto-aim takes all your non-homing and non-turreted weapons into account, so if you have something like heavy rockets installed it may be adjusting the aim to allow them to hit, even if you are not firing them.

So it could have been due to javelin rockets being carried, for example? Also when I progressed in game I started to equip beam weapons only which might explain why I had no more issues.
