How to unlock Kestral

I'm a combat 9, but haven't found the place to unlock it.

In the same vein, I had just done that quest, but I clicked too fast and failed to read the part that tells me when/where I can buy one. Anyone able to tell me?

You can buy it on that same planet (Wayfarer), but you will have to wait for 50 days after quest for it. Just go off and do whatever and whenever it is available you'll get a notification when you land on a planet.

I didn't get a quest.

You don't just have to be combat level 9. You also have to have completed some (large) amount of the Free World quest line.

No you don't looking at the mission code right now, it only requires the combat rating. And I've gotten it before starting the storyline.

is it worth getting the kestrel? I play on a moded save file and have a fleet of 100 hundred Bactrians. is the kestrel better than one of my Bactrians?

The kestrel is not better overall, IMO. I was just comparing them, and I stayed with my Bactrian rather than switching.

The Kestral is a bit of a custom thing, can come in three forms based on your feedback from the quest. A verison with more shields, a verison with more weapon space, and a verison with more engine space. Bactarian comes out on top overall I think, especially because you have more cargos space to convert to outfit space. Though Kestral has more weapon and engine space...but has 6 guns and 4 turret ports where the bactarian is reversed with 6 turrets and 4 guns, but again weapon and engine space..so it really is where your preference is. If you perfer or don't mind guns over turrets, Kestrel might be the way to go. If you want a well armed transport or something that's outfit can be expended via mass expansion better so you can load it up with other things, but don't mind having lesser weapon and engine capability, Bactarian probably way to go. Also Kestral is 7 Mil cheaper (at least in ship cost) then bactarian.

yeah I'm playing on a duplicate save and just messing around so cost doesn't matter to me. I just edit the game files. My personal preference is turrets over guns. so yes. thanks

lol if you just cheating, you can convert guns ports to turrets in the save file. Of course you can change pretty everything about the ships you have in your save file.
