In Misam it's a bit harder as you also have to deal with pirates, and they might destroy the Korath ships once you disable them. If you are friends with them however, it's a good place for Korath as they spawn in pretty regularly.
Atik is a bit quieter. Pirates only spawn in near the jump spot, which is a large distance away from the center of the system., and they jump quickly back out again. Which makes it easier to deal with Korath ships on your own. The spawning of Korath ships is a bit more irregular there. It might take some time to see one, or you get 2-3 in rapid succesion.
The next ship on the 'Korath capture ladder' is the Lor'kas Ik 577, which at least gets you up to the crew numbers of world ships in general, with plenty of cargo space to convert into bunks. Apparently, it's also possible to farm up Kor Efreti reputation high enough for you to capture one of their Echo-Galleons without making them permanently hostile.
By the way, the Rano'erek itself does have a Ground Assault variant, appearing in one of the later Remnant bounty missions, which actually has a higher base crew capacity. I assume it's able to attain a higher max crew than a standard Rano'erek (otherwise what would be the point of it?) but not sure.
nerdemoji.gif Ackshually it's a carbon star.
I am having a hard time capturing a jump capable ship bigger than a Rano'erek. I have disabled many larger ships. They either have too many crew or o jump drive. I wonder if I can take over a world and put a jump drive on a ship in one of these systems?
Do note that jump-capable 577s are principally armed with Digger beams; if it has Grab Strike turrets, it definitely does not have a Jump Drive. With the other 'worldships', I don't think the difference between the 'standard' and 'jump' models is anywhere near as easy to spot(without boarding them).
I think the best place to try and capture one might be Kor Zena'i when the habitable planet is on the eastern part of its orbit. The hyperjumping ships should largely leave you alone if you stay in the western half of the planetary orbits and I believe the jump drive ring (the area where jump driving lands you) is quite compact, so you should be able to aggro most of the ships that jump drive in without spreading your fleet too thin. So long as you have overwhelming firepower (probably 15 to 20 Korath ships with beam weapons or equivalent), I think you can quickly disable almost anything that jumps in. Then you just need to get lucky.
