Swap ship after each capture.
This. I did followed the very same course as well.
Sidenote: capturing world ships is a bit on the evil side of things, but going to the 590 is even worse, because jump drive equiped 590s only exist in the civilian fleets of the Kor Efreti. However it's a necessary step unless you edit files(like changing your flagships bunks number in your save file).
Also for anyone curious: no, any given Kas'lor IS NOT randomly going to have a jump drive. Only ones who spawn with one particular variant of the "Korath Ember Waste Large Raid" fleet... which only happens 3.47% of the time and only in two systems: Nor'peli and Kor Tar'bei (the latter has 50% more chance of it spawning).
Where does one find this information if we're looking around... data files, github, etc? You able to give a dummies guide for what I might search for?
I didn't realize that the Large Ember Waste Raids don't even appear in the Ember Waste -- kinda weird.
But maaaaaybe that explains how I've landed on hundreds of them and never seen that variant, 95% of the time I was in that first place with the lower odds.
One file for ships showing which ones have jump drives... another for squadrons and which ships are in them... another for systems showing which squadrons spawn in them. They're all readily readable in notepad - no modding tools or anything necessary.
There's also a bunch of info on github but I don't really know how to navigate it.
Short story is there are only two Kas'lor types with jump drives: one which spawns rarely in the two systems I mentioned and one which spawns friendlies only for specific missions which are failed if you cap one of them.
